I was answering your (off topic) points. I think we have achieved our objectives in both places. Someting we could do again if required - no armchair warriorism required, just a statement of fact.

Enlighten me - exactly what "objectives" have been achieved in Afghanistan? Do you believe we're leaving because our task is complete (after 13 years) or because, actually, we realise it's an unachievable task which was pretty pointless in the first place.

I think we sorted the taliban out, and provided the framework for free elections to take place.

Keeping it that way is the problem once we leave, agreed.

You mean the same Gulf States that don't officially recognise Israel? The same Gulf States that ban amy formal direct trade with Israel? The same Gulf States that might not even let you into their country if you so much as have an Israeli stamp in your passport? Your knowledge of Israeli-Arab relations is staggering.

Ps I never suggested they would embargo ANYBODY any time soon. I suggested that, if they did what they have done in the past, our economic welfare would not be helped by siding with Israel.
