This kind of thing used to go on on a daily basis at my school back in the 80's/90's, not saying it's right obviously, but it is a massive over reaction.

This trial by social media really worries me.
+1

Either that or the one time the victim eventually snaps after being continuously tormented will be the one time the school takes an active role whereby they will punish and sanction the victim.
Probably, these days. Well over 20 years ago I didn't understand I was being bullied and just soaked it up until one day I smashed the kid's face into a desk in front of the headmaster. The other kid got expelled - turned out everyone else could see what was happening better than I could. Very weird situation expecting to get bked and finding sympathy from everyone only after I'd figured out how to resolve it myself.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid people are.

"I'm gonna go over and assault Jamal, make sure you video it and upload it to the internet so the police have some good evidence when they come knocking after this has inevitably gone viral".
More like "film this, it'll be a laugh", it'll then spread round school like wildfire so poor Jamal gets "like your water boarding" shouts wherever he goes.

As a parent my heart goes out to Jamal and other kids in this situation.

Neither, complaining about the inexplicable throwing of money at the victim as if that makes things better.
Fair enough. Guess it covers the post earlier - someone wants to be seen to be doing the "right thing" more than actually solving the problem. Though I don't expect the victim asked for the money or for people to give, some people are very generous with their donations.

Apparently this was all a month ago, and police had already had the bully in court - is the fact it has been to court the reason we are only now seeing the video, it was evidence?

The GoFundMe is just bks. What sort of idiot gives money to a thing like this? Crazy.
Someone who came to the UK as an immigrant, suffered racist abuse, overcame it all and made enough money as to be generous with it, to those who are suffering?

People who just want to chip in a couple of £ to help the kid along a bit?

Reformed, former scum who used to bully and now feel guilty?

- etc etc (ie, society as a whole?)

White Supremacists never look particularly supreme to me. How Steve Bannon can look at Idris Elba and say to himself “I’m the superior one here” is beyond me.
Well this is what I don't get, his mother and sister look multi-racial, so you'd think he'd be a bit more tolerant of other races? Unless he has some sort of Oedipus complex and it's the thought of his mother getting turned inside out by a black guy that's made him racist?

You know all this to be fact from a few Twitter / Facebook posts?
From news reports. The video was a month ago and his broken wrist about 6wks ago.

It’s an ongoing case and subject to contempt of court restrictions so we won’t get any more facts other than these for now.

On a BBC news over the last hour they said police had confirmed the bully has been charged with assault.

Awful behaviour from the bully.

Also, I'm really beginning to despise social media, it's seemingly just a soap box for the professionally offended.

If say, Twitter didn't exist I truly believe the world would be a better place. It's referred to as 'a cancer' for good reason.

Now footage has appeared showing his sister being bullied at school and her headscarf pulled off - https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/west-yorkshire... .
She also apparently attempted suicide because of the bullying.
These attacks took place last month, but the police and school only seem to have taken action after the family's solicitor got involved.

As for the 16 year old bully, his house is surrounded by police for his protection after his address was leaked online.
An appalling waste of police resources. He clearly thinks he's a big brave boy, let him look after himself.
You've lost me, are we advocating violence against a weaker individual or condemning it?

I’m saying that the bully seems to think he’s hard, let him deal with the consequences of his actions.

On my first day at grammar school in '66, I was
smacked in the face by a bully...nosebleed and a split lip.

Can I have my 50 grand now?

[quote=Cold]Just watched the video after reading about the event this morning. The older and bigger lad threw a headbutt, grabbed the other kid by the throat and threw him to the ground before conducting his own version of waterboarding.
I'm not surprised the locals don't want this type of thug in their school. Let's hope the courts and the school actually do something worthwhile this time.

Reading further, the answer to that seems to be his own family.

I can't understand how society would have allowed a child to grow up thinking it's acceptable to bully a refugee child like this

oh wait yes I can

Yes because anyone who raises any concerns about accepting unlimited numbers of bogus "refugees" is clearly in favour of random acts of bullying and thuggery.
No, but this right-wing uprising we have seen is legitimizing it. Exactly the same is happening in the US under Trump.

The strides we made against racism over the 90s and 00s are being completely undone by people in power sympathizing with extreme right-wing loonies and even coming very close to various racist comments themselves. White supremacy and nationalism are coming back out of the closet under the guise of these fktards.
