But you don't hug the Queen. That's pretty well known, and normally respected, protocol. It was cringeworthy.
If you're Mrs Obama, clearly you do

And clearly it was the incorrect thing to do.

Exactly. Good on her. She shouldn't be unnescessarily hung up on protocol and deferential to an octagenarian German woman.

Michelle Obama is the partner of the most powerful man in the world. The Queen isn't.

MB can do as she damn well pleases as far as I am concerned and if the Queen doesn't like it she can lump it.

...and in the distance I hear the sound of PH Royalists blowing their bugles and calling for me to be thrown in The Tower... hehe

So protocol stands for nothing anymore? Its all about power?

What should she do when she meets the pope - high-5? Those religious types get even more hung up than us royalists.

Kudos to Michelle Obama. She certainly knows how to play the media. Ideal wife for her hubby. They are both very media savvy.

I do think that a little bit of respect though. I wouldn't be too happy if some yank decided to hug me when we first met. Although strangely willing to kiss people in other countries.

Do you want to edit and requote that, because you are bordering on the incoherent as it is....

"Good Lord.....Nelson - taken to the Grecian 2000 eh...at your age?. You old fox....anyway, how's Winnie...ah, sorry, forgot...oh, here's the photographer....everybody say 'Biiitch'"

(I know for a fact that Pip the Greek, bless him, uses the 'Biiitch' line to get people smiling for photographs)

She is a fricking lawyer that got there through affirmative action and was sheltered in Illinois where everyone walked on eggshells around the oppressed black folk. Now you want her to have "class"? Please! hehe

Genius topic...sometimes boys n girls I think PH should just be one great big script and gag writing session smile

Had me giggling away at the desk this morning.

Loved the Zulu refererence!

Prince Phil...absolute legend.

As for Michelle Obama, she is a lawyer ffs, she has as much class as Soovy. Think about that!

I don't think the Royals have much "class" at all.

I find people who have achieved based on their merit much more admirable.

Funny that PH still seems to be a bastion of the old class system - exactly the system that was designed to prevent people advancing in life, not encourage it.
