I think that clic has done a great job of debagging this guy, but I feel sorry for him now. He's clearly not playing with a full deck, and has zero chance of becoming an MP, so I think he's probably best left to go back to his Walter Mitty world now.

I don't think Cowan should join any party. The Labour should come clean on the saga. Jacquie Smith and Kerry McCarthy should admit their involvement in Cowan's expullsion from the Lib Dems and membership of Labour.

Normally, I would agree, but in this instance, it's a clear case of 'If you live by the sword...'

My uncle (green party candidate) got rid of a lovely Volvo 240 (which would have had millions of miles left to go) to get a newer Nissan Micra which he then part exchanged for a new Fiat Cinquecento (after me arguing with him not to get a Toyota Pious). I did point out to him how much precious carbon it will have cost to produce the new car, compared to how much carbon the old Volvo would have produced by just chugging along. His answer was "it's the image it puts out".

The paper Telegraphy had a picture of him posing with a "glamour model" and a "friend", apparently from the PH website somewhere.

The "glamour model" didn't look very glamourous and the "friend" looked like someone that was kicked out of N-Dubz for looking too chavvy.

Can anyone find this pic?

...die by the sword, which he has. He's been suspended by Labour, and his past is now so well documented that no one would even consider him.

Now on the BBC Election 2010 live coverage.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election2010/liveev...

1115 The Labour party has suspended its candidate for South East Cambridgeshire following newspaper allegations about his conduct. A party spokesman said the actions of John Cowan were "totally unacceptable and well below what the party expects of its candidates" . A decision will now be made whether to expel him from the party. The Sunday Telegraph claimed that Mr Cowan had made a number of offensive comments on online forums. Mr Cowan's suspension comes too late for him to replaced on the ballot paper.

Looks like he's been suspended and won't be allowed stand. It's now too late for Labour to register an alternative candidate for that Parliamentary Seat. That's one seat lost then smile

What the Labour spokesperson should have said:

"If the Labour Government had done a good job over the last 13 years we would have had a decent selection of people to choose from to represent us. The situation as it is, means that we are spending so much time pumping st into the spin machine to protect comrade Gordon and, therefore, we have had no chance to vet potential parliamentary candidates. It is because of this situation that John Cowan has ended up embarrassing the party. It's not our fault at all. Oh no."

I wouldn't say it is lost - I thought it was a pretty safe Tory seat, hence why they allowed this clown to stand.

If he has only been suspended by the party, does it mean that it is too late to get their £500 back? If it is, does he still stand as an independent?

In all fairness, Labour never had a chance in that constituency. They haven't lost a seat as such, more withdrawn before too much embarrassment was suffered.
