Jeremy Clarkson suspended by BBC...
Discussion
Sounds like they have rejected the 4m from BBC and rumours abound with Netflix.
This is looking interesting.
BBC have lost a lot of money finally removing JC, not saying what he did was right, but the way the BBC went about trying to remove him for years has come back to bite them on the ass, no amount of begging can sort that now.

I fail to see how the BBC buying into Top Gear, and renewing Clarkson et al's contracts year after year is "trying to get rid of" him...
I think people are getting at the BBCs complaint process. He says "murder a prostitute" when comically describing a lorry drivers day and he's under investigation. They procedural process that is followed after a complaint seems to validate the hypersensitive. They never seem to have Clarkson's back, as it were.
In my view they've had his back for years. His latest faux pas was just something that couldn't be fudged.

House of Cars sounds good.

I like the idea that they are good pals and there is some real loyalty between them. No idea whether it's true or not but it's a nice thoughtThis is looking interesting.

When you work on a show and it works, it's nice. They might not be mates and hang out together, but when the working relationship works so well in showbiz, it's nice to stick with it. The fear and memory of working with tts usually gently but firmly guides you back to the known.Halb said:

The BBC is not one individual; there will be lots of factions fighting for power. Some of them will like the show, some will be pro one of the worlds most popular and profitable shows, some who don't like it, and some who oppose it as it doesn't fit with their BS fanciful vision of what the bbc should be. The latter routinely seize any "incidents" as an opportunity to attack clarkson to push their agenda. This, is the fundamental of whats wrong with the bbc.

I put a few quid on Clarkson setting up his own production company (with some investors) making the programs himself and them selling them round the world.
His "Brand" is at an all time high and very marketable, plus he wouldn't have any constraints regarding what he produced.
What kind of odds did you get, it seems like a very obscure bet to make. Did you do it on paddy power? His "Brand" is at an all time high and very marketable, plus he wouldn't have any constraints regarding what he produced.
Plenty of digs at the BBC (very funny) and hints that they'll be back "soon" on either TV or the internet at the live show on Saturday.

Chris Evans on 'Sunday Brunch' just now said he is filming a 'Top Gear sequence for an independent film company on Tuesday'. He repeated it when quizzed by Lovejoy and Rimmer. What's that about then?
Make of that what you will.

she talks about "gender neutrality" but wants something very, very different.is there a word thats the equivalent of misogamist with the sexes reversed?
The trouble is when the beeb do plonk a woman presenter on top gear (along with a gay black man and transgender of skin tone roughly halfway between black and white) even it's not one of the drearily predictable, ill suited choices like perry or butler but someone fresh she will have an uphill struggle convincing the world she's there on merit.
