Happy days a blatter and platini banned for 8 years, I think it's only a matter of time before they see the inside of some cell doors.
Such a random number. Why not banned for life?
I don't know what their guidelines are but, at a guess, an 8 year ban effectively bans Blatter for life and will do so much damage to Platini's reputation that he won't be able to come back from it. Maybe a life ban would be seen as too severe and the CAS would overturn it, thus taking some of the bans credibility away? This is just pure speculation, I'm probably miles off the mark.
I think you are spot on there, BM, especially regarding the CAS. No one can argue the ban is too harsh so less likely to overturn the ruling.

Punishment is 2 World Cups Qatar & Russia, 4 years + 4 years.

FIFA only work in multiples of 4.

Does anybody bar the weirdo himself think Blatter is actually innocent in all of this?

So, an illegal £1.3 million payment and a £54k fine. Decent result for Platini, that.

He ticks a remarkably high number of the boxes that describe psychopathic tendencies.

Maybe both then, because here are the ones for psychopathy: glibness and superficial charm, grandiose sense of self-worth, pathological lying, cunning/manipulative, lack of remorse, emotional shallowness, callousness and lack of empathy, unwillingness to accept responsibility for actions, a tendency to boredom, a parasitic lifestyle, a lack of realistic long-term goals, impulsivity, irresponsibility, lack of behavioural control, behavioural problems in early life, juvenile delinquency, criminal versatility, a history of “revocation of conditional release” (ie broken parole), multiple marriages, and promiscuous sexual behaviour.

Check out his marriage and relationship history. It's very interesting.

Yes, apart from that, what damage has he ever done to international football?

This one ticks all the propaganda boxes. Given that it must have lost an absolute fortune, there could be a case to answer for misappropriation of funds that should arguably have been spent on the development of world football.

All I know about football is that men on a field kick a round ball while other men on the edges of the field shout at them.

Yet - within a minute of FIFA announcing the World Cup would be held in one of the hottest and most desolate places on earth I knew I could write a 2,000 dissertation on "Corruption in Football"

Unbelievable. Completely unbelievable. There is being out of touch, then there is Blatter and, to a lesser extent, Platini. The worst thing is that football fans have lined their pockets for years and years, whether or not we wanted to. From the grassroots up, everyone pays into FIFA in one way or another. I just hope that something is done to prevent bandits like Blatter getting anywhere near the top again. There's having a jolly and then there is taking the piss and there is what Blatter et al have done for over a decade. It's sickening.
