I've worked in Israel for a while with various businesses / projects .. my real-life observations suggest the locals are very hard working, well educated, smart and savvy .. unlike their neighbours ( many of whom declare they wish to destroy the state of Israel and deny their right to exist ).
I suspect you have little real experience of Israeli friends or colleagues and haven't lived there.

From my perspective, its a war. There will be causalities on both sides. Suicide bombers, missiles are all the weapons that Palestine has. Israel has phosphorus gas.
Either way, each Israeli is fundamentally in pain due to the fact that they have no homeland and believe the are the so called chosen people (lol - not even given an inch of Soil by G_D). So they are constantly angry a bit like an older sibling has fallen out of favour with the parents due to the new sibling arriving and getting the spoils.

I actually agree on the fact that neither party want to live without each other. Its a relationship based on love and hate, you see a similar pattern between husband and wife all the time. Its like the embodiment of relationships where the extremist is war.
