They could stroll in whenever they want now. Biggest mistake the MOD did was build a runway that fast jets can use, should have kept it short so it could only be used by harriers and stol aircraft (you know, all those sea harrier 2s we have mothballed)
If the argies over run the airfield and base thier mirages there a taskforce wouldnt get close, and we have no sea based radar equiped fighters anyway.
Supprised it hasn't happened yet, there is fk all we could do about it now.

The US and the Argies are pretty tied together these days, no?
Not really. I don't think I have ever heard Argentina mentioned in modern US political new to be honest. They are cosy with Brazil, have an understanding with Colombia, laugh at Venezuela, and put up with the Mexicans. Argentina, meh.

They have so few 'fast jets' in usable condition and very little to arm them with. It's a non-issue.If the argies over run the airfield and base thier mirages there a taskforce wouldnt get close, and we have no sea based radar equiped fighters anyway.

The Typhoons would blow just about anything the Argies could attack with out of the skies before they knew they'd been detected.

Firstly, I hope he doesn't. Let's not forget, there is a substantial amount of UK and Australian investment currently sitting in the Falklands. It would be political suicide for him to give them up.
Not only would the military (a proud bunch - and rightly so) object, but the oil prospects in the North and South Falkland basins possibly contain a staggering amount of oil. Oil that this country needs to be in control of. Desperately.
AFAIK, there are no Typhoons there as yet, but there is decent Tornado F3 cover, and a permanent air patrol.
I doubt Argentina could do anything whatsoever, but if Brown gave them back, they wouldn't need to, but I think he'd have a bigger fight on his home soil.

As of late last year no Typhoons down there, only tornado F3s. Would be interesting if Brazil fancied a go LOL
Still, F3 vs Skyhawk.....I thought the F3s were being replaced by Typhoons last year?
Faith...Hope..Charity.....
