What is the latest re ice cover? I'm having a scrap with someone on Twitter who says that it went down almost every year over the last 30 years or so thus the recent "in-significant" increase should be ignored.

TX.
Seems to be just above the 30 year average mark at the moment.

is it just me or I can't see anything worth worrying on this graph?

I see that Michael Mann held an "Ask Doctor Mann" event live on twitter yesterday. I fear that it didn't go entirely to plan.

If you look at the graph Jinx posted and really carefully pick your start and end points (e.g. 2000-2007) then we're headed for thermageddon. 2007-current and we're going to be under sheets of ice next tuesday...

So, yes, nothing much to see or panic about. Unless the recent 'recovery' is a blip. Which it probably is is you're of a warmist bent.

The apparent increasing trend in ICE AREA in most of Antarctica is pretty much more than off-setting the decreasing trend in the Arctic at most times of year. However, I think the crux of the claim is that ICE VOLUME appears to heading firmly down all around regardless, i.e. ice is generally thinning but more widely spread. Who knows the truth - as we can't measure it ourselves!

Alongside a decline in credibility maybe...but he'll probably get all righteous and religiously fervent for a change.

That, or it'll all be due to global warming.

Far too busy blocking the questioners to answer - the fingers-in-the-ears la-la-la I-can't-hear-you method.

No.

All the questions were considered "hostile", and they were deleted.

You can see the original thread here:-
https://twitter.com/PennFuture

You can see that PennFuture introduced their eminent guest, and then he(Mann) signed off. Everything in between has been deleted!!

As far as I can see, he didn't answer a single question.

He didn't deal with the issue concerning his status as a Nobel laureate (which he isn't).

He also failed to deal with the issue of splicing on thermometer readings to his tree ring data.

It would appear that all of the questions were asked by "deniers".

No Global Climate Deal Unless Wealthy Nations Improve Emission Targets Warns China

Wealthy countries should increase their emission commitments if a global pact on climate change is to be reached next year, China's top UN climate negotiator said Friday. Emission commitments made so far by developed countries account for just 30 percent of the global total, said Xie Zhenhua, China's chief negotiator at UN climate talks, citing researchers' estimates. "This is a situation that we do not wish to see," he told reporters in Beijing, arguing that wealthy countries have failed to take the lead to cut emissions and provide funding and technological support to developing nations as promised.

India Won’t Give In To Western Pressure At “Unimportant” UN Climate Summit

India is expected to stick to its tough stand on climate negotiation and make no new announcement at the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s climate summit in New York this month, which UN officials said would be a major turning point in the global approach to the issue. A senior government official told ET on the condition of anonymity that while several factors contributed to the prime minister’s decision [not to attend the UN climate summit] the environment ministry had in its input stressed that the UN Secretary General’s initiative was “not important” as it was not part of the negotiations and that the Prime Minister “should not attend the meeting.”

Australia suspects Moon is Barking

Australia is refusing to take a plan for deeper cuts to greenhouse gas emissions to a special world leaders’ climate summit in New York next week, rejecting calls from United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, who will represent the Abbott government at the conference on Tuesday, ruled out bringing to the table beefed-up emissions reduction targets, despite hopes the meeting would build momentum towards signing a new post-2020 global climate change deal in Paris next year.
