NASA Satellite Chunks Likely To Hit Earth Today
Discussion
The odds of the debris landing on a person are apparently 3,200 to 1.
Call me an old cynic, but I am not massively reassured by that statistic....
Apparently, the odds of scoring a hole in one are 5,000 to 1 - and I have seen that happen loads of times.
I also read that the odds of being considered possessed by Satan are 7,000 to 1. And I definitely had a mother-in-law who met that description.
So I shall be wearing a hard hat until the danger has passed

The chances of someone getting hit may be 3,200 to 1 against.....but the chances against it being you are 6,775,235,700 (or thereabouts) to 1 , so in total 21,680,754,240,000 to 1. Roughly.Call me an old cynic, but I am not massively reassured by that statistic....

Put your hard hat on though. We need a good laugh.

Nasa has warned members of the public not to touch any pieces of the spacecraft which may survive the re-entry, urging them to contact local law enforcement authorities.

and it'll need to be a damn good hard hat - it weighs 6 tons!
It's symbolic. Just as councils used to declare themselves ''Nuclear-free zones'' during the cold war - a stance which provided little protection in the event of a nuclear holocaust - I am declaring my head a Space Debris-free area. Dave_ST220 said:

Fing is, it isn't a boat, train or plane nor do I have that sub-forum in my favourite list as I have no interest in boats, trains or planes but I may have an interest in a satellite crashing into my house.
