Someone posted a Sun Tzu (?) quote on here recently about a true loony being someone who would happily reduce a country to dust as long as he could rule it.
That was moi. Guilty as charged biggrin

Trump says he'll stop all offshore wind projects from day one: https://www.rechargenews.com/wind/trump-vows-to-st...

What a clown. I work in the sector, previously in O&G, and it'd be committing the US to being both ostracised by the developed countries and entirely dependent on an industry in terminal decline. It'd knock the US to around about India level in terms of modern energy infrastructure.
He literally doesn't care.
The funny thing is that the oil & gas support companies have started transitioning across so things like shipyards and ship chartering companies, all very much trump supporters, are fully throwing their weight behind offshore wind farms. The US Jones act means only US flagged ships can do certain jobs so in theory this will be a boom time for a significant sector of the blue collar marine workforce. If he kills offshore wind in the US there will be a lynchin'

Jones act will mean everything takes 3 times longer to be built, it will strangle offshore wind in the US unless they allow non-US registered construction vessels in.

The James act requires US registration of ships doing US to US ports. I am not sure how that would impact a non-US ship doing runs from a single port out to a wind farm and back.

It won't be allowed, that's what the Jones act does; a vessel would have to break off to visit a canadian port every other port visit.

How difficult is it to re-register a ship to the US for short terms? Russian super yachts are doing it all the time to evade sanctions.

It's not just about registration. Jones also requires that it has to be built in the US and owned and crewed by US citizens/residents

Fair enough. Possibly some good shipbuilding opportunities to come.

Although if the wind farm is more than 12nm offshore, so in international waters, how much of a challenge is it really? US built barges could transport the kit from port to the field where the specialist non US kit is working.

US shipbuilding is almost as st and expensive as UK shipbuilding; even if you can find yard capacity that isn't booked up for government work for the next 20 years the quality isn't great.

Doesn't matter who said it really, the sentiment of it is what matters.

And there we have it, Cohen did his part

Michael Cohen confired that the $130,000 payment he wired to Keith Davidson on 27 Oct 2016 that was marked "retainer" was actually money for Stormy Daniels as part of the hush money arrangement.

"It was in order to pay Stormy Daniels to execute the NDA and to obtain the story."
Prosecutor Susan Hoffinger asks Michael Cohen if he would have made the $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels without getting "sign-off" from Trump.
Cohen: "No, because everything required Mr. trump's sign-off" and, "I wanted the money back."

Cohen also testified that during a meeting in trump tower in mid-January 2017, trump personally participated in and approved a plan to reimburse Cohen for the money he paid to Stormy Daniels.

And that he was pissed because after all that trump cut his bonus by 2/3, stiffed even the person protecting him.

Edit: Also Cohen confirmed Keith Davidsons testimony that Cohen was trying to delay payments. Cohen said he was doing that because trump didn't want to pay (or not pay) until after the election. However Cohen had to mortgage his home, hide it from his wofe as the story was going to come out before the election, and trump promised to pay him back.

trump went on a rant fest last night

Ranted outside the court about the judge again, his daughter etc "We have a corrupt judge, and we have a judge who's highly conflicted and he's keeping me from campaigning."..etc
Claimed they have no case...

So basically angry that Cohen ripped his excuses apart

Then last night requoted others who were calling the trial a sham and attacking the judge, trying to get around the gag order. 11 posts

Quoted right-wing National Review editor Andrew McCarthy claiming “Bragg has no authority to enforce Federal Law," quoted his former acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker and Sen. Tim Scott. Whittaker claimed there wa no evidence of trump crimes, Scott claimed it was all to stop trump campaigning.

Edit: And trump got JD Vance to attack the judge and his daughter outside court?

trumps way around the gag order is to have his faithful Members of Congress show up, sit through 45 minutes of the trial, then have them come out and violate the gag order for him in front of the cameras.

NY times reporting that trumps fake claims about his trial, such as 5 times hes stormed out the courtroom (he didn't) and other false claims are netting him $1m a day in fundraising from the faithful, according ot an unnamed trump insider.

Pinch of salt? trumps campaign have often used the NY Times to spread false positive stories about trump.

Lev Parnas confirms Cohens testimony that trump micromanaged everything, reminding people that "trump micromanaged everything Rudy and the BLT team (John Solomon, Victoria Toensing, Joseph diGenova, and myself) we’re doing on our mission to dig up dirt and spread misinformation about Hunter and Joe Biden."
https://twitter.com/levparnas/status/1790044512787...

Remember, that was even before Biden announced he was running, that trump announced early when charges against him were coming.

When Cohen asked trump “how are things going upstairs (with Melania)?” Trump said he wasn’t worried. “How long do you think I’d be on the market?” (Meaning if Melania left him, he wouldn’t be single long because of all the women that want him)

“He wasn’t thinking about Melania. This was all about the campaign.”

When Cohen asked about if anything happened with Daniels, trump bragged all the women there wanted him
