It looks even worse from the second shot when you see how they entered the junction, Would modern cars be unmarked after such an impact? Has to be jail time, surely?

I saw that just a minuate ago while having coffee break.

Bloody Nora that fiat was going quick, glad the guy is still alive.

Wonder if its a stolen car?

Hope the police can trace quick enough.

You'd like to think it was stolen, but I see idiots using housing estates / city centre as a personal race track most days frown

Pedestrian is lucky to be alive eek

It doesn't look possible to get the registration from that CCTV.

Not necessarily from this CCTV but they will from the other cameras about the town. Once caught, this driver needs to be locked up for a very very long time and have their licence removed for life. Thoughts go to the victim and hope for a speedy recovery.

No doubt there'll be a CCTV trawl + and other methods. An anonymous phone call may come in, too. They often do from publicity like this.

You can see in the still images on the Mail site that the car takes a HUGE hit, bonnet caved in, windscreen fked, it would be HUGELY obvious.

Looks 40mph at least, they need big old punishment for that, totally shocking. Miracle he survived it really.

Probably get a fine and 5 year ban, if our justice system is true to form.

yikes That was way more shocking than I thought it would be, I assumed he would hit the guy much slower...driving like an utter tt.

I would also like to think that I would rush over in that situation, I mean you would wouldn't you - However seeing that you would likely be in a bit of shock yourself so would possibly behave a bit strangely!!

Dangerous driving has a maximum sentence of 2 years and failing to stop / report 6 months (IIRC). There may be other offences, too. The aggravation of hitting someone and probably causing serious injury means a custodial sentence is rather likely.

It will be interesting to see the sentence given that the guy doing 150mph on his bike got two years (not that I agree with doing such speeds in built up areas) but importantly, no victims.

This pillock, seemingly speeding, one victim, leaving the scene... Check the rope and oil the trap door hinges Igor.

And yet... only a few days we ago we had a host of people defending a bloke on a bike who did 100 in a 30.

You need to remember the biker who received two years was charged with 4 counts of dangerous driving, for which he received 6 months for each.

A few days ago I witnessed a you lad getting knocked off his bike by a woman in a Mini pulling out of a parking space.

The lad bounced off the bonnet and windscreen, landed in the road then just got up and appeared to say WTF happened!

I stopped and ran over to him, he was fine, refused an ambulance or any help. He spoke with the driver, she apologized and ask if he was OK, he just said he was fine.

He put the chain back on his bike and cycled off.

I spoke with the driver, a young girl, and she was far more shaken up than the young lad. Then she started crying over the damage to her car.

The windscreen was badly smashed, a large dent in wing, large dent in the bonnet and the light under the headlight (fog light?) was smashed.

So in light of that I guess that the car in this cast must be very badly damaged.
