Weird really, I was really up for the last Olympics, being in The UK and all that. Rio? Not remotely. Am I alone?

The only thing I'm anticipating is the death count from terrorism/crime/disease, that's the only interest I have in it.

Yep. Not feeling it this time. Partly to do with the blatant doping in the sports my younger self was interested in: athletics and cycling. I know neither of these are likely to have been clean since at least the 60's but I think watching the recent obliteration of various track records, previously held by the Eastern Bloc / Chinese athletes, without much raising of eyebrows and the mechanical doping of bikes have forced me to turn off.

When my 9 year old son sits there looking at a diamond league meeting on the box muttering "caught, caught, suspected, dodgy coach, caught" to a middle distance field I suspect the whole farce has run its course.

Well, I'll watch the men's gymnastics (rings and pommel horse) and tennis but that's because I do this stuff myself (both, badly hehe) but not because it's the Olympics. The other stuff - no interest, so won't watch.

Wasn't interested in it last time, not interested this time.

It doesn't help that modern TV wants to interview everyone as part of the show. Let's face, anyone who has spent all of their waking hours in a swimming pool will be a little .. dull.

Not interested, when hypocritical international world politics,is getting in the way of many hardworking individuals and depriving them of their dream to achieve a lifetime goal?

Now doping is out of the way, I'm looking forward to seeing how many are poisoned by the waters.

7's Rugby should be worth watching, along with Michael Phelps in his last Olympics, and Usain Bolt doing his thing.

I'll watch the gymnastics if it's on and maybe some athletics finals, but I must admit the commercialisation of the olympics puts me off.

It's good to see some sports you might not otherwise get televised, but the stories about athletes not being able to mention their own sponsors, etc are a bigger story than most of the events. It's becoming the hollywood of sports.

It's just rich people running around, shooting guns and catching a dose from the other athletes after hours.

Too boring and too commercial.

I may tune in for the 100m men's final. Otherwise, no interest.

I always enjoy watching the Olympics but I have managed to convince myself that with the water quality problems and Zika issues that the cream of the world's athletes are going to stay at home. My motivation to watch has gone.
Oh well.......

Indeed, having baseball, football, basketball and the rest in it is a bit of a joke, golf too. Let the sports that would die off without it be on their own, but it's all money money money. biggrin
