Rotherham Council mass resignation.....
Discussion
It's absolutely right that they resigned. Pity they didn't do it earlier.

I would prefer to see them jailed for conspiracy.
I think the public need to keep pushing. It doesn't end with the Council Cabinet quitting:http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/roth...
Interesting to see that it's being made about Labour and not a certain political 'charity'.

Resignation is a cop out. The modern trend seems to suggest that as long as you've resigned, that's an end to it. If they have been criminally negligent, or worse, then they should be investigated, and if there's sufficient evidence, punished.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-31130750

Hear hear. I would also like to know how and why so many of the resignees of such posts manage to receive generous payouts, this despite being found severely wanting in their respective roles. Who writes these contracts?ETA I see the twisters still have their insider, Vaz in there, trying to interfere.
As others say, it would be apt to see the name Common Purpose dragged into the frame too.

and what about the council officers/staff?
...the local authority was "repeatedly told" by its own youth service what was happening. It chose, she said "not only to not act, but to close that service down."Seems like the officers tried to blow the whistle but their political master chose to ignore them and cover it up. Lots more to come out on this story.

so what was the chief exec doing in all this? how can councilors shut down a service without the chief exec on-board?
As Derek says, resignation should not be the end of it, chase these people where the evidence leads and prosecute without fear or favour. Then do it all over again in other cities. If it's like this in a small one horse town like Rotherham, what's it like in London, Birmingham, and so on?

Apparently, the police are still ignoring the issues, all over the country.
This is what really astonishes me.When this story first broke, I expected lots of arrests.
There are not tens of witnesses. There are not hundreds of witnesses.
There are thousands of witnesses.
We need to see senior politicians sent to prison. We also need to see senior police officers sent to prison, and we need to see far more of the abusers sent down.
I think that we also need to see a proper investigation into the activities of Common Purpose.
"A serving Rotherham councillor suggested teenage victims were to blame for their own exploitation because their 'modern dress' and make-up 'fooled' Asian men.
According to the report, the unnamed councillor - who still sits on Rotherham Council - said the girls tricked their abusers into thinking they were adults by 'the way they make up"
