My boss has just told me that there are going to be protests against capatilism going on ( I know the date but don't want to post incase of publicising it for the greenies) Are others in the city aware of this? Aparently last time it happened there was a lot of violence against anyone in a suit.

fk that. I'm wearing pinstripes and driving the Morgan in on both days.

Plebs.
I must admit reading that article that cottonfoo put up has erked me somewhat, I think I will stick to my original idea (although it seems to have been done before) of photocopying £20 notes and throwing them at them!

Flashman you can drive past them with me in the passenger seat while I lob bundles of notes at them.

So who are these protesters?
Work-dodgers... who live off benefits... which are paid for by by taxation... which is funded by profit... which is generated by capitalism... which they are protesting against! banghead
It is quite stupid is it not?!

I'm a little worried that our original poster, a broker (ostensibly in the City of London?), cannot spell capitalism either in the heading or the post.
yes you probably should be hehe

edited to add: I am not a broker for my MENSA membership credentials but because I am good on the phone and have a talent for making money with shares, neither of which requires lots of brain power, although you do have to absorb lots of information quickly which I can do.

I have absolutely no problem with them protesting. What I am against is the violence and the inconvenience suffered by 99% of the people in the city that had no major part in causing the disasterous state of the economy.

terrible scenes - but it worked though - the poll tax disappeared.
Awful, but you can't knock the awesome horse-handling skills at 2:01.
I noticed that, epic bit of trampling of the underclass... hehe

Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC) are scheduled to demonstrate in the City tomorrow and although xxxx is not on their target list their published route will take them past xxxx.

Details from the City of London police
The protestors will meet at Bank at 12:00 and will probably be coming past our building at around 13:00
The police expect between 100-200 attendees
Staff should not engage with protestors
Have they said which way they are going after Bank - just wondering where to go for lunch smile
What road are they walking down??

The couple that owned or run that Huntingdon company or one very similar lived down my road (moved about 2 years ago) There used to be big protests in the road with police cordons etc the protestors set light to their fence and shed (there is a farm track that runs up the past the back of their house) We were quite releaved when they moved! Having to drive past loads of police and protestors just to get to your house in a quiet residential area was a bit much.

If I had the money I would love to hire three or four fire engines with onboard water cannons, drive to the campsite where these irritants are camping and unleash some pre emptive crowd control before they are actually get out of their tents. Either that or park them down Bishopsgate or outside the Bank of England to 'protect' innocent workers.

I would also have them painted black with the City of London crest on the side biggrin

Anyone else have any imaginative ideas for quelling the uprising??

What is everyone planning on wearing next week in an attempt to make it look as though you don't work in a financial institution?
I only have to walk a small distance from the tube to my office and I am in the office by 0720 so I am not bothered about dressing down. I would probably forget to dress down anyway.

I feal sorry for you city workers but I really believe that this has to take place and unfortunatley it will turn violent. My reasoning is that the G20(uk government) will take absoluteley no notice of an unviolent/disruptive protest.Since this thread was started I think feeling has got alot more resentful towards governments who don't seem to be listening too any thing the electorate are saying and are just bludering on with the same old rhetoric.Whilst I don't support the anti capitalist movement or the tree huggers I do admire their devotion and willingness to do almost anything for the cause they believe in.For all the critism they get, they are the revolutionaries of tomorrow who will actually get things done and get things moving and get governments to take notice, tapping on internet forums won't
Do you really think that society will be changed by some UB40 reject chucking a brick through the window of Price Waterhousecoopers?
Hopefully it won't be a UB40 reject, it'll be a housewife, or a nurse or a 64yr old who's just seen the pension that he payed into all his life destroyed, or a middle aged guy who is sick of all the income tax he pays being stuffed down the pants of some bank-scum as a retention bonus or a factory worker who has just seen his salary cut by 10% percent as his workplace desperately tries to avoid bankrupcy, while the architects of this look on and laugh as they pocket more of our money.

Except, they're not laughing any more. Across the world, bankers are being intimidated or forced by law, or taxation, to hand back their blood-money. Soc General have handed theirs back, 8 out of 9 at AIG have buckled, the ponzi boys in the US can expect 90% tax on theirs.

Fred ? Fred can sit at home counting his money and waiting for the tinkle of broken glass...

It would be fantastic if thousands of decent, ordinary people could take to the street for this demo, and ram home their desire to see this greed brought to an end, one way or the other.
Well if these 'ordinary wokers' had not over leveraged themselves on credit cards and remortgaged themselves 3 times then there may have been not such a great problem. Some blame is attributable to a few traders, but people seem to forget that all these problems came from people taking out mortgages they could not afford!

Apparently there are going to be thousands of supporters there and if you set up a stall, you could make a killing selling anti capitalism t-shirts.
The irony of doing that would be great!
