First time ever all struck out on £87k
That's just laughable, NS&I need to take a look at this. Shirley, IRs have to go up soon...and then we'll be back to seeing some decent returns on here!

There must be billions in PBs that are erning bugger all interest. NS&I are laughing!

I have heard of this before. Does it work?
I don't know if it 'works' as I don't think it is a 'system' or a cheat - but if dad doesn't win for 3 months, he cashes that set of bonds in and then rebuys them. Just to change his numbers.
He's forever winning premium bonds.
He's had £5 and 10k aswell as small wins pretty much every month.

How long does cashing in and rebuying exclude you from the draw?

The bonds I bought today won't be eligible until February.

You buy on the (say) 30th November they are in Jan 1st draw 31 days minimum if you use your head, 60 days max if you don't

Yes, but once Jan 1st draw has taken place, how long to cash and rebuy?

I'd guess you would lose at least 1 month?

Disapointed over the last few months. Shockingly poor return I have been selling.

I had the maximum for along time but sold about a year ago.

I think once the interest rates dropped Premium Bonds became more attractive so they had a massive, massive intake of cash but did not increase the prizes accordingly really, so where I used to win every month it ended up often being 3/4 months between wins.

I have got the max amount too, had nothing for about 6 months, the last was two times £25.

But I have forgot to even pay them in at the bank, so they are probably out of date now.

Then today I have had one £25 winner turn up.

Still think it's become a very poor investment , when we first took out the max amount of £30 about 10 years ago, we used to get £50-100 almost every month!

Premium bonds are a big con, you can work out the sums yourselves but the telegraph has done it for us: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance...

2010 just called, it wants its old 'news' back.

So you don't play the lottery either because that's a con too?

Yes we all know that the odds of winning big are small, but personally on my £1K investment (yes, I see it as a investment albeit one that will never go down in value so I'm already winning there) I'm already 2.5% up since joining in November.

Do your own maths, I don't give a toss what Martin Lewis said 3 years ago in an article that's now outdated since they adjusted the prize pot (which reduced the odds!)

Ah interesting, so each bond is treated as an individual, hypothetically you could have 5 bonds and win £25 on each of them?

I thought they just lumped the prize together.
