I just had a random memory of a workplace pension I paid into for a couple of months in 2005. I had forgotten about it until now. It must only have about £500 in it.
The employer doesn't exist any more. I'm fairly certain the pension account was with Aegon so I've contacted them to try and find it.

I don't pay into a workplace pension. I don't think the £500 in the old account will stretch very far when I retire.

Assuming I can find the account... Is there any way to take the money out?

I would have thought the best scenario would be to transfer it to another pension. You may be able to cash it but you'll pay a lot of tax.

AAz01,

If Aegon cannot find any records, come back here with the news and PHers will advise you of the actions you can take to try and find the responsibility for the pension.

I worked for Goldman Sachs for 6 weeks in 1984 and paid into a pension scheme.
I wonder what that would be worth now , not a lot I'd imagine smile
