Any commodity/FX traders?

This might not be the right place for this, but Im applying for a few jobs at the moment and need to brush up on my skills.

Could anyone give me a good starting book to learn about how to understand and make trading models? I can teach myself VBA or Python or C++ but dont understand how to model a market. There are 1000+ books on Amazon, and not a clue where to begin. Or if anyone could recommend a professional course I'd have a look at that.
