First time I've strayed into this forum, please be gentle with me ...

I'm involved with a local school (as a parent and a foundation governor) and we've recently looked into separating the school fund (money from fundraising, "friends of", that sort of thing, used for charity donations from the school, assisting lower income family children on school trips, things not directly related to education) from the school bank account. There is no local bank branch near the school, so we looked at an account that could be paid into using the local post office counter.

As far as we can see, all of the accounts that can be paid into in this manner have an account charge of £5 per month - regardless of the amount of money in the account, or the level of activity in the account in that month.

Any suggestions? The school fund does not deal with huge sums of money, and has a charitable status, so whilst £5 a month is not a lot, it's money going out that we'd rather use for something to support the school!
