Hi all,

Are there any high street banks that would let me withdraw say 20k of my money the same day.

I phoned Natwest this morning to let them know i will be popping down to branch this afternoon to withdraw some money and they told me they needed 24+ hours notice for large amounts. I asked what they class as large amounts and she could not tell me anything other than "that is a large amount" so its obviously not a rule or proceedure as that would state a definate figure. A bit pissed off as i will have to venture out of work on Monday now rather than with drawing MY money on my afternoon off.

Cheers

Dave

I have done before, but was at my bank in Canary Wharf. Guess it depends if they have large amounts of cash in the premises.

If a High Street bank only has £1000 odd in each till then 24 hours would seem reasonable notice to me smile

Isnt this a bit useless if you don't have an account with that bank?!

no main high street banks should need 24 hours for that as most will hold far more in the main safe.

suggest you pop down and speak to chief cashier!

They generally do this as a security measure, rather than a lack of cash.

To withdraw that sort of money you will need ID and to fill in some sheets of paperwork.

Less than 5k is what they let you take out without ID.

Natwest wouldn't let me take 2K out without ID.

You must look REALLY suspicious.

They have let me take out 4900+odd whenever I have needed to do it.
