Want to put about £5k into the market - a mix of some bank stocks, a house builder or two and some brent crude or similar oil ETFs.

What is the simplest/best way to do this?

I don't want to use IG index or similar, as I probably want to hold the stocks for a year or two - and I don't think a financial spread bet is the best way to hold a position long term.

Any ideas?

Cheers fellas.

I was hoping that HSBC would allow ETF investing - but does not seem the case.

I think Barratts (bdev) will be a good long term but. Taylor Wimpey will no doubt also be ok, however just being at 38p (?) now would spite me knowing they were trading in sinlge figures for a reasonable amount of time (luckily when I got in).

Lloyds, personally see this as a no brainer at 67p for a long term investment.

I would love to be investing a large amount at moment and may well do in another couple of months or so (long term stuff), however all monies are currently being held to one side for next development which is due to start in August & this is priority.
How did your Leeds development go? Well by the sound of things.
