Good news is whilst I was at work the gardeners been and chopped down the tree in the front garden - nothing personal but it flowers for about a week and it's over with. Also gives our house cats a better view from their room!!
Also the wife despite being 6 months pregnant has decided to strip the wallpaper in the main bedroom after I spent this morning Volvo'ing the inherited furniture to the tip

And the tiles were Johnsons - they do a similar colour but smaller size in topps tiles but it's double the price
Apologies for lack of updates... Been very busy with stuff non house related of late!
The big push is on!
We're currently stripping the last room; unfortunately is the lounge/diner and hallway so it's by far the biggest one. Plasterers are booked for the start of September to finish the whole lot. Seems plastering is the in call trade at the moment as I've had to wait for them... And it's quite expensive. They've got walls and ceilings to contend with and the double height stair well.

Main bedroom is plastered as well...
We're waiting on a couple of things to get progress rolling on the family painter and decorator is away on holiday, and the carpet we ordered is out of stock. Annoying but a room requiring just decorating and leap beyond where we started.
Discovered that my covering my serving hatch kitchen side was easier than the dining room size. Totally forgot to check how the sill and frame are fitted. Result is I've had to hack it back so I can box it and board it flush with the wall.
Oh.... Still hating wood chip!
Plans for today is to keep plugging away at the woodchip!
Then once that's off some insulation in two portion of stud work, chop some wonky plaster off, and remove the coving (not going back up) and the skirting boards (likely will reuse them)
The big push is on!

Anyone recommend a cheap design decent hand rail for the stairs, I'm loathed to have one but apparently she wants one!

So today is all about scraping ceilings and copious use of pva and artex sealer so that the plasterers can start tomorrow.
Looking forward to flooring etc my eye has been drawn to the "impressive" range by quickstep. Key thing is that it seems to have the laminate run into the joins opposed to the base material being exposed. Had engineered before and despite looking after it it sun bleached quite noticeably and marked quite often.
Best price I can find online is £19.99 m2. Anyone got any contacts? I need 17 packs

I like plasterers... They turn something akin to a favela shack into something decidedly more homely quite quickly...
For one guy on his own I'm impressed how much he's managed - the second one was delayed coming home from holiday so will make an appearance.maybe.

The odd dwarf door - now less dwarf like albeit still small
And they've started bonding out the rough bits downstairs prior to finish coat..
It's beginning to look more like I had planned!

Apart from it would seem on one day when he did the bathroom.

Measure twice cut once... Make it sodding level!

So stage 2 of this house is now complete and we move forward to stage 3 which is decoration...

The wife has been and bought the paint for our bedroom - looks like I'm going to have to hand in my PH card.
