Robovacs good or not?

How well do these devices cope with rugs on hard floors? Our kitchen/day-room is 17m x 7m. It is tiled, but we have a rug in front of the sofa. Will they cope with the step up onto the rug - it’s not particularly thick, maybe 15mm or so. I can’t help thinking of the cartoon showing a Dalek confounded by a flight of stairs.
Provided the rug doesn’t have frilly edges to get the whirly things tangled in, should be just fine: we have a fairly chunky rug in our lounge that Edgar (J. Hoover) manages just fine. Mind you, ours might only be 10-12mm....mercedeslimos said:
Reckon those <£100 refurbished Eufy ones on eBay are worth a punt?

ked hoovering on my only day off. Have a cat and an eclectic house.
Can I manually throw it upstairs to do the carpet every few days?

Can’t comment on refurbs, but you can certainly take them upstairs for a run...quite amusing to watch it go near the edge, then back away! Not that I'm a lazy b

Ours is the 30C, so I guess I cannot confirm 100% for the 11....

The Eufy one is fine, I have a rug in the middle of the hall and it happily cleans that as well.sparks85 said:
How do these perform on hard surfaces? We have brand new engineered wood flooring in our lounge which I'm concerned might be damaged either by the wheels or bristles?
I've got the 30C and it's brilliant. We have a dog and a baby, and usually hair /grit all over the floor.
We send it out for an hour each morning and it's pretty immaculate when we go downstairs. No risk that the wheels or bristles will damage the floor

I have oak flooring and amtico (in different rooms) and there are no scratches. I would say that it the robovacs are gentler than me throwing the full size vacuum cleaner around.boxst said:

I'd be inclined to believe this. Our full-size vac (bought mostly for car cleaning I'll admit) has plastic wheels which would mark a wood floor.
We are living in a rented place with not-particularly-smooth tiles on most of downstairs and fugly carpet tiles covered by rugs in the living room area.
If it does 90% of the work I'll be happy.
We have a wood burner and that always coats the place with ash when you open it to clean it. Set the bugger to do it while I'm at work

I picked up the amazon basics one. Think it was 80 quid? Dumb as a drunk dog, but definitely useful for the money. It's just random and I chuck it in a room for an hour and listen out for when it gets stuck. Would buy a smarter one but have too many big rugs and nooks it gets stuck in right now. Next house, totally getting a pricey one.
