Th two wine racks that will go at either end of the island have been build from scratch from glossy end panel material as Wren wouldn't do one in a suitable colour. They've delivered a few of the bits that were missing from the initial delivery, plus some extra bits that we didn't ask for nor have any use for and there is plenty we are still waiting on, a month after delivery.

It's a pretty bloody chunky power cable too!
I'm sure you'll be ok but I've seen people jam pack drawers with all sorts of crap and up turned knives, carving sets etc. Ram thoses in enough times and the 10mm cable will come off worse. It's why hob base units have the top blanked, a cracked gas pipe is equally worring but now induction is popular it's more down to ventilation as well as safety.

Good for you to make these up yourself, you've saved a fortune as the factory versions are really expensive.

Looking great - shame about Wren though as I'd heard good things but someone else I know had issues with damaged and missing stuff... hope you're getting some money back!

Regarding Neff stuff - looks like you're all sorted but thought I'd mention that Jewsons in Woodbridge (and probably elsewhere too) have marked down all the current display stuff as Neff are changing the style slightly I think.

I just bought a single slide and hide oven for £250 inc and they also had a built-in double but with standard doors for £450 along with a steam (only) oven for £250 and a (compact) dishwasher for £400

Keep posting the pics - it's great to see the progress :-)

Fantastic thread, Muncher...

Please please please look after your floor.

I look at this thread everyday and all I see is cardboard under things, you've spent loads please don't spoil it. Get some corex or something more protective, unless you going for the rustic look, than I'll shut up..

Is it oiled or lacquered?

It's oiled, we try and hoover up quite regularly so it is relatively clean, I don't want to damage it!

Get another coat on it once your finished, they only usually come with one coat on them but need another finishing coat.

Sorry but I see to many lovely floors ruined by people working, including ones I've just finished, very frustrating for me...

Looking great though.

Very frustrating week, with lots of little niggles delaying progress, ending with one of the Makita drills packing up.

At the weekend we tried to get the oak worktop for the utility cut to size and the box section above it made but it was one snag after another. We had to take the sink out as that was the only way we could connect the tap pipes to the hot and cold feed. At the point where we finally thought we had it sussed we found we had lost a small rubber washer with filter that sits in the connection for the outlet hose of the tap. This of course meant it leaked and we couldn't go any further :/

I don't suppose you chaps know what one of them is called or where I can buy one from? It is probably around 10mm across, 2mm thick with a 3mm ring round the outside and fine mesh in the middle.

Espares would have them online.
Alternatively someone who sells washing machine hoses/plumbers merchants.

Similar, but a bit smaller, it shouldn't be that hard to get a replacement, it's just annoying that I lost it!

Here's the utility worktop in progress, the washing machine goes underneath, the tumble dryer on top and the pull out ironing board in the gap in between.

Bit of an update for you, I'm afraid no pics until the weekend.

The utility is almost done, the sink is back in, the washing machine and tumble dryer are plumbed in and the pull out ironing board is in, but needs a drawer front. There is a bit of a leak from the sink which needs sorting and the plinth needs to go on. That just leaves some final painting, the glass splash backs to be ordered and the electricity meter to be boxed in as it looks like there's sod all chance of OVO fitting a smaller smart meter any time soon.

All of the doors have their ironmongery fitted, the keeps are all in and all the stops have been fitted so aside from minor tidying they are effectively done.

The sink arrived and the recess has been cut in the unit, so when my brother in law is free we will plumb that up together with the dishwasher and waste disposal unit.

A load of 25mm oak veneered Mdf has arrived and my Dad has started to rip that down to build the integrated storage for the walk in wardrobe. Incidentally if anyone could suggest a good supplier for some blum soft close drawer runners at approx 600mm deep that would be appreciated.

The weekend also saw us take a big step closer to moving in. We had to hastily move out of my fiancé's house (family issues!) so we hired a Luton can which we filled twice with her stuff and once with the junk in my parents loft. So we have kind of setup a temporary bedroom at the house but I don't think we can think about staying there for another couple of weeks until the sink/fridge/oven electrics and bathroom mastic is done.

First bit of the wardrobe, 4 uprights like that and one in the middle with drawers at the bottom and shelves at the top.

Something loosely resembling a temporary bedroom

Plastic peeled off the bathroom cabinets (even though the painting is not finished!)

Kitchen cupboards being filled

Utility getting there

Ironing board

Kitchen sink
