Doesn’t having an R8 and nowhere to park it belong in the “a bit council” thread?
Haha R8 lives in a garage wink

What an entitled idiot you are OP.
Who rattled your cage? You don’t even know the full story! Aside from the helpful comments,God there are some judgmental snowflakes here.

You seem the type who wouldn’t borrow a library card with someone else’s name on it…

Oh come on, some very self righteous people on here (quelle surprise)

if its as OP describes, a bit of scrub land thats not being used for anything, then why not park there if its doing no one any harm ?

the issue is, does the old boy own it, or is he just being an arse

But, talk to him. Quick, easy and you will know more importantly if it is causing an issue for him which would be the most important consideration.
Someone who understands! Thank you!

The question at hand here is not if I should or shouldn’t be parking there, it’s if the resident down the road has any rights to the land to actually tell me where I can/can’t park.

Ofcourse I’m not pig headed enough to just keep parking there if he is the genuine owner.

Because it’s not a parking area, it’s not his land and he has been asked not to by someone that may be the owner of the land. Surely the self righteous people are those parking off road on land they don’t own?

Parking on scrubland is all very well but before you know it you have people parking on verges etc which may be what the neighbour who asked him not to park there is concerned about. However as the OP hasn’t spoken to the neighbour we don’t know why he doesn’t want the OP parking there.
whether the land is suitable or not to park on is out of the question to be honest as no one here has seen it so can’t really judge.

Neither is whether I own it relevant as we don’t all only park where we own.

The question here is how to find out if this man has any authority to tell me I can’t park there. If he does then I won’t park there.

It's already been mentioned at least twice.

Land Registry enquiry using their map feature. £4 or something like that. Will either confirm the landowner or confirm LR does not have records.

If the former, you can work out if it is the neighbour / if he has 'authority'. If the latter, you can ask the neighbour to confirm his understanding.
Yeah I know, mentioned more than twice.

Land registry has no information on it. Only gives information on the nearest garage of which outlines a clear border only for the garage

Isn't the note enough? Do you expect people to prove ownership before you decide not to park on their drive?

Its pretty simple to find out land ownership - this thread has told you how to go about it.

Just show it to us on google maps and I am sure someone here will tell you who owns it, unless its unregistered. If it is unregistered, it doesnt mean that its not owned by someone.
Well that depends, If a random stranger who has no ownership tells you to stop parking somewhere would you give in and stop parking there and find somewhere else? I don’t always expect people to show proof, but somewhere like this, which isn’t on land registry, not owned by the surrounding lease companies and about 100metres away from this chaps house, yes I would expect something to back up him telling me where I can park.

I know this thread has mentioned about 10 times to go on land registry, it’s not there. Only returns back with the nearest garage and border doesnt include this small space.

I doubt there is any piece of land that isn’t owned by someone and with some effort I dare you you could find out who owns it. You have been given plenty of good advice in this thread maybe you should try following some of it.

In the meantime if it isn’t owned by you and you have not got permission from the owner, who for all you know may be the ‘old man’, to park there, no matter how handy it might be you have no business parking there.
Please read my replies in the thread
