It might be blindingly obvious but it did take me by surprise... distance with no objects hardly reduces sound.

I'm outside Kenilworth in the Countryside - outside I can hear my neighbours dogs (200m and 400m away) as if they were in my garden.

If the neighbours come back from the pub, it sounds like they are chatting on my drive.

HS2 would be LOUD
