Lime Nazis won’t like this!

No, in houses with solid wall construction (which, almost by definition, are not going to be modern construction and methods).
Note that I'm saying in some situations.
You seem to be asking or expecting me to say that 'dry lining with gypsum plasterboard is better than lime plaster' (full stop).
That would be just as absurd as saying that lime plaster is always better than dry lining.
Taking such a black-and-white stance is a sure sign of a fanatic, so I'm guessing you're exactly the sort of Lime Nazi that this thread is aimed at. I'm further guessing that because you are sniping at 'textbook experts', you have little grasp of the complexities involved, so are sticking to blind dogma.

The bit I have bolded applies not only to lime plastering but to all walks of life, and the more complicated the subject and situation, the less applicable such dogmatic statements become. Unfortunately, in most cases, the less one knows, the more they think they know, so their tendency to rely on dogma seems to increase.

Can you give an example in a historic, solid wall house where it'd be better?
Yes. Frankychops said:

No, I think this is important.you said:
i'm pleased to say I use the correct material where needed, with practical experience.
Which means that you should be able to tell us yourself where and why it might be advantageous to use insulated plasterboard (for example), rather than lime plaster. If you're prepared to admit that you don't know, then I will be happy to give you examples.
Likewise, if you wish to tell us that you don't believe there are any situations where non-lime based products are appropriate in older houses, then I'll be happy to discuss examples where I think they are.
From your earlier claim of expertise, however, I can only assume that you know the answers perfectly well and are just trolling... which is asking for a ban.
So, come on, which its it?

There's no trolling, you've clearly said there were situations where you would use plasterboard etc on an old solid walled house. however seem reluctant to give the examples you said you know of. which does mean you were trolling? If you're prepared to admit that you don't know, then I will be happy to give you examples.

Good. Then you will be able to answer my other questions, one way or the other?
You asked: " can you give an example in a historic, solid wall house where it'd be better?"
That suggests that you believe that there are no such circumstances. Is that correct? Yes or no.
As I said, I'll be happy to expand on the reasons you might specify alternatives, once we understand your position.

You just need to type two or three letters: yes, or no.I say again:
You asked: " can you give an example in a historic, solid wall house where it'd be better?"
That suggests that you believe that there are no such circumstances. Is that correct? Yes or no.
Is that too difficult for you?
