How well do the intelligent robot mowers cope with things like flower beds that don't have hard boundaries? We've got a curved bed that runs the length of the garden, filled with bark, and currently I've just got my Flymo wire running in the same pattern 20cm from it. Just means I strim the edging now and again.
When you set up these new style wire less ones, you drive it around the perimeter you want it to mow (like a RC car). So in your case, you can set it not to go into the flower bed. I suspect there will still be a need to strim the edges though
Husky bringing one with edge cut and wireless, accurate to 3cm https://www.husqvarna.com/uk/robotic-lawn-mowers/a...

Thanks. Don't mind the strimming, just keen to know it'll somehow have a hard stop and not annihilate my plants

I have no idea I’m afraid, you’ll have to contact them.

I have a 450x, it is not compatible with the EPOS system. Perhaps a module will be released at some point. They did that on the original non smart mowers to make them upgradable to use with the app.

Right, Boris the Blade is dead. Tried everything so it is time for a new one and a wireless one seems a smart if pricey move.

The mower above looks fine but it is a lot of money for an untested mower. I suppose it is made by an existing manufacturer though.

It would also be good to have it mow the front lawn by going down the side of the house too.

But, am I missing any other mowers that do the same/similar for a similar cost?

I think the others from bigger name manufacturers that offer the same features are 2(ish)k.

The mammotion luba has a good Facebook group if you want to see what peoples real experience is like

This is his younger cousin Roam-e-mow who’s just come out of hibernation in our garage. Can certainly see the family resemblance.

I joined the Yuka one but there isn't much there. I'll join the Luba to see how they are doing. 23k members give me some comfort. I did look at other wireless mowers but in the end there's so much spec/info that I got a bit lost in it all!

One positive note was that I just noticed the prices are in dollars and so the one I need is about £1k. Still a st lot for a mower...

Im also on the yuka group, but given they are not out in public yet it's not going to be the most exciting group for a while.

£1k to buy hours and hours of your time back - bargain!

Oh yes, absolutely, I have/had the Flymo 1200r and that has saved me days of mowing myself. However, that cost me £399!

Looking at the site I think I just 'buy' one of the models (the 1000 one) and then pledge (pay?) and it should be here in June?

Nice!

Well! I gave Borris the Blade one last chance and he started. He had a bit of a jerky start and didn't spin his blades but I stopped and started him and he was fine! Oddly the menu showed '9m', god knows what that was.

For about 5 minutes! Then he seemed to do a few short reversing and turning moves and then stopped. Display said he was lifted but he hadn't been lifted.

I put him back in his base and am wondering if it is something as simple as his battery being dead/mostly dead. In a car, electrical problems happen randomly when the battery is failing and so maybe this is the issue.

New battery ordered, last chance for him!

What would be the general consensus on a robot mower to cover a 500sqm ish area. One lawn. Mild gradient but is pretty uneven / bumpy in places? Ideally I want something that mows all the time, is reliable & will last 5+ years.

I've got the landroid 700 plus for a similar lawn but slightly bigger.

It can get stuck if it,s front wheel drops in a hole, so if you your bumpiness includes holes then it may struggle

If you are wanting to mow the front and back of your house you will need to consider how to position the antenna for the base station if you go wireless. If the building blocks the signal it wont work. Hence why trees can be an issue for deployment.
