Went for the Miele.

Bought new but haven't posted as I didn't want to get into a debate about new v Outlet and hopefully it's a one-time purchase.

All I can say is this thing is brilliant.

Didn't quite expect to get excited about a washing machine but there you go

Anyone got any ebac machine and can share any feedback? There is blurb in their website as to why they are not on which beat buy list and it seems to Make senze but it's hard to get real reviews outside of their website and maybe amazon. Thanks.

Anecdotal but I did a lot of homework before buying the Miele and Ebac just didn't seem to really come up much.

Your one looks like the current version of mine. It is excellent - very quiet, anyway.

I just had mine repaired (~£400!) as it stopped filling reliably. Needed a new internal component that distributed the water around the machine, as limescale from hard water had clogged up the old one. Hopefully solved as I’ve moved and have a water softener now…

Still going strong apart from that at 8 years old, as I suppose you’d hope for the price!

Honestly it's bonkers how good this thing is.

Anyway one of todays jobs was/is to clean the thing.

I have a box of Citric Acid but a quick Google threw up a couple of articles including one by Bosch saying not to use Citric Acid to clean their washing machines as it can damage rubber and seals and to use their special cleaner.

The content of which according to the specifications is Citric Acid.

What do people use?

The thing’s so damn expensive I just order the Miele cleaner from their website. It’s not the most cost effective way of cleaning it, but it means I don’t have to think about things.

That said, I mostly just do a maintenance wash when prompted without adding anything - it’s a hot water wash to flush out any crud build up in my mind, rather than needing cleaning specifically. It’s not like the machine smells, or looks even a little dirty.

Just do the hot cycle maintenance wash. Also make sure you leave the door open after a wash has finished.

Yeah the Miele cleaner is on a different level but I only use this once a year and clean out the drain filter thing at the same time.

We always do a 60 degree wash once a week for towels anyway and then every couple of months I use one of those Dr Beckmann cleaners on a 90 wash

Apart from a bit of dirt built up around the seal, that's all I do to clean it although we always leave the door wide open when not in use and I also remove the detergent drawer and spray some spray bleach before doing a cleaning wash.

Ours is 8 years old now and still looks brand new.

Which cleaner as there is an IntenseClean and a Descaler?

Trust me having spent a small fortune on this thing I'm already far too OCD about things like leaving the drawer and the door open.

I'd just rather not be paying £9 for a tub of something that might only cost £2 if it says Dri-Pak on the box rather than Miele

This is what I bought - should have got more given the price (was on offer) but like I say, once a year!




I should have added we have a softener so have not bothered with the descaler - I really wouldn't bother either until it's at least 3 years old as you might do more harm than good. I would leave the door and drawer open when you can though to stop mould.

Intense Clean is the cleaning stuff. Oddly it doesn’t tell you to put it on a maintenance wash when using it, but rather (from memory) a cotton 60 program or something like that. You dump the whole tub in and let it get on with it.

Descaler if you have hard water - I bought some, but thought better of using it after 8 years. For all I know, scale might be holding some bits of it together now.

In this a bit late, but when looking for a replacement a few years ago we bought a Miele 8kg w PWash - now had it nearly 3 years. It replaced an 8yo Asko, one of the Swedish built things before they moved to Slovakia. The Asko was great - simple and did the job well. The Miele seems to be doing OK so far. We use perhaps 3 of the programs and that covers everything for us.

One of the things I found out was that machines at different price points are designed to last a certain number of cycles. Now, that sounds bleeding obvious but it’s not that easy to get if everyone says how long they’ve had their machine, or how old it is. It’s the number of times it’s been used that’s important.

More expensive ones are expected to do around 6-7000 cycles, cheaper ones perhaps 2-3000.

I estimated the Asko put in around 7-8000 cycles in just over 8 years - that’s averaging 18-20 loads a week, 3 loads a day, every day. And that’s still the case now.

So, I’m reckoning on about another 5 years from the Meile…

As for detergent - all-in-one gel tab thingy straight in the drum - no mess, no phaff, all works well.
