Raked both of mine yesterday.... Its made them look terrible but at least all the moss has gone :-)
Need to do this and seed. Is now about the right time to do this? If your lawn is not huuuuge let me know and I can post you some seed FOC.
We have Green Thumb feed and week our lawn four times a year for about £100 and the best money ive spent the grass looks lovely in the summer with stripes, looks good in the winter as well.So if you have problems with your lawn this is well worth doing. Also dont leave leaves on the grass in the winter as it will kill the grass.
I will do the first cut in a few weeks but first I need to change the oil in the mower as its three years old and still has the original oil in it that I think should have been changed after a few cuts as its a running in oil.I will give it a treat with fully synthetic that I got from halfords half price recently,

Same here, pay them a very reasonable £5 a month for four feeds per year. Their charges for other works aren't unreasonable either. Lawn looks excellent now - although ideally needs levelling properly to eradicate a small area with poor drainage. Can't complain for the price though.Inspired by this thread and a lawn which is looking a little sorry for itself post winter today I bought a lawn rake, 3 bags of sharp sand and a device to punch cores into the lawn. Had a quick go at raking the lawn and pulled out a lot of dead material so its looking a bit sorry and patchy now.
Have given it a quick feed and next weekend I will start working some sand into the lawn as my garden is on top of clay and has draining issues (bigger project needed to build something to take the water away - will start a new thread for that!). Will then tackle the bald bits by over seeding and hope for the best

My feeling is that I would wait another 3 or 4 weeks before using your hollow tine aerator, because an unexpected late hard frost after you've done that could cause heaving of the ground which will make your lawn bumpy.
I would also wait before seeding, because the soil will still be too cold for good germination.
What you're planning is all good, but patience must you have, young padawan!
