Ha! Fair. We had a Dyson handheld before though & found it to be an overated poorly built load of crap, it's on eBay at the moment for spares or repair

Link would be nice - I like premium things that are easy to fix and sell.

A couple of queries on the subject of cordless vacuums, if anyone in the know could answer?

The Dyson V6/8's - presumably you can use the direct-drive cleaner head without the long pole thingy? i.e. for cleaning the stairs

Also, I'm about to embark on a five bedroom house. What cordless vacuum's are going to have enough battery power to do all five bedrooms, hallway and stairs in one go?

Thanks
Ours is probably what you'd call a large 5 bed, living room 6x5, hall 5x8, bedrooms fairly large, sun room, kitchen-they all add up but we only hoover what we use regularly with it.

The dyson V8 can't do it all on one charge

I've got the V6 and think the suction is fine but find emptying the container a complete PITA. Open lid and the dirt doesn't come out unless I prod it - anyone else have this issue ?
I generally just take the whole dust collection bit off when emptying it. Quickly found it was much easier than flapping it open and having to prod away at it.

This is definitely the best approach with the V6.

Well I ordered the V8 on Sunday, it was delivered on Monday and we started using it yesterday.

All I can say is it's a bloomin revelation in our house. It's a 4 bed, 3500 square feet old barn conversion and it's seen more hoovering, in more corners than ever before smile

Easy to use, great suction, convenient and readily available with more accessories than you can point a stick at.

Recently needed a new vacuum and found this on offer:

Bargain and flipping brilliant so far (mind you haven't had a new one for 20 years so things have moved on technically!).

(Oh, you'll have to spend your JL voucher on something else.)
Thanks for the heads up in that. It arrived today. Seems able to suck up spiders and webs and so far has lasted a run around the ceilings of the whole house.

Seems to need the turbo on a lot to pick up on floors and emptying is a pain as fluff gets stuck at the top of canister.
I really wanted to like it.

I keep aiming to buy a cordless Hoover to just suck up the cobwebs but all the Amazon reviews seem to be of people who have just bought the item and think it's amazing or people who have used it for at least a month and now say the battery only lasts 10 minutes.

I don't want a top end solution. We have a couple of normal Dysons for the proper hoovering but I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has found a cheapy cordless vacuum that performs pretty well?
Bought a cordless hoover, and much prefer it to our corded dyson and 2 cordless dysons. Use it daily (4 cats) and it does about a floor and a half on one charge.

We have a conventional Dyson for carpets and core cleaning but I've never found a cleaner who actually knows how to clean and it's no good attempting to teach them as they are all towering intellects, industry professionals and know far more than a bloke can ever understand, so I have to do tops of skirting boards, switches, door insets and being next to fields we are plagued with spiders so cobwebs in the corners.

So far, bearing in mind it was day one, this thing has done a good enough job of whisking around after the cleaner doing all the important bits that modern cleaners don't do because they are professionals without any professional training. biggrin

I've not tested the emptying aspect yet!

This Dyson V6 looks to be good value at £199.99 especially as I can get another £15 off on top. However, I'm still not convinced the battery will last long enough for my needs. Still very tempting though.

Depends how you vacuum - I don’t tend to do the house top to bottom - I’ll do a floor or room at a time, so runtime is not too much of an issue.

Was having a Google and thought I'd try PH.

Already have a Dyson DC60, wanted the V8 or the V7, but thinking the V6 makes the more suitable option for a quick hoover. Or is th V7 worth the extra £70?

V6 for £184 - 10% Barclays cash back = £161.60

V7 for £250 - 10% Barclays cash back = £225

Ideal for mix of carpets and hard floors. If you have mainly hard floors then the V8 with a Fluffy head is a good upgrade.

V6 / V7 / V8 battery life: 20 / 30 / 40 mins on normal power.

V7 and V8 have post-motor filters and touch-free bin empty.

The V6 is good, but it is still the old DC59 which is quite a few steps behind in the technology.
