Octopus energy company. Anyone use 'em?
Discussion
Can anyone advise if i should go on the flexible tariff or the fixed? prices similar at the moment but that indicates they will be falling.
Had such a palaver of a situation with gas and electric......
Was with octopus, moved house, tried to stay with octopus. Switch was denied because the previous owner owed the supplier money. Had to jump through some hoops to prove we didn't owe the money.
Meter readings were wrong, their website didn't work properly, had to email photos of meters etc etc.
Now time has passed and its like ive lost my rhythm of being organised.
Currently with utilities warehouse and not direct debit. Just had a bill for £616 for February
Anyway, fix or flexible?

With all the issues you have had then you don't seem to have anything to lose moving to flexible then making a decision once everything is in place and working. You can then look at what works best for your use whether that is staying on flexible or moving to a smart or fixed tariff. It would only be worth tying yourself to a fixed term if you expect prices to rise as otherwise you won't be able to move afterwards without paying the exit fee.Had such a palaver of a situation with gas and electric......

I would go for Flexible, well Tracker actually, then if prices rice you can jump to a Fixed tariff or back to Flexible instead.Had such a palaver of a situation with gas and electric......

Tracker is not for someone who just selects their rate and then checks again next year. I get a daily price alert from Telegram.
There are various export options available. Outgoing fixed may be the best option for you.

Well the disaster continues here. Engineers from Providor out this morning trying to reset the smart meters. No dice. Another appointment needed to rip it all out and start again. Anyway, suits me as the longer this goes on the more months that pass the 12 month mark that they can’t bill me for anymore.

I am. How are you seeing at far into the future? I only get tomorrow's rates after 4pm every day.
https://emoncms.org/ukgrid/app/view?name=UKGridHaving a right runabout with Octopus just now. They came out to replace my SMETS1 meters with new SMETS2 units but they still can't get the half-hourly readings from the electric meter which means that I can't use Intelligent Octopus and my Ohme Pro charger is thus an expensive wall ornament.
Apparently, they're waiting on ALT HAN extenders which will sort the issue but who knows how long that will be. Most annoying!

Thanks. For the avoidance of doubt, are you saying that when the red line dips below the the other lines, Agile prices will turn negative?
In a nutshell yes. When we produce too much for the demand it's cheaper to pay users to take the excess than to shut operations down.

I think you're being told porkys here: Alt HAN is for the "Home Area Network". Basically, comms between the Elec meter, Gas Meter and In-home-display. It shouldn't have any effect on comms between the smart meter and the DCC.Apparently, they're waiting on ALT HAN extenders which will sort the issue but who knows how long that will be. That was my understanding of it too - there is an issue with comms between our electric meter (on an external wall) and the gas meter (in the garage, around 15m away and through several walls) but I couldn't understand how this would affect the sending of the electric readings. I'll go back to them and complain some more... I've had nearly three years of trying to get this sorted; such fun!https://althanco.com/how-it-works/

I had ten yes TEN meter swaps with those clowns! He kept claiming they were DOA meters!Ironically a British Gas engineer got them working first try.
British Gas have had an error connecting to the cloud for months now, the whole system seems total st.
Moved to Octopus today, be interesting to see if they work properly again.........
