We're making progress with the wardrobes, I wasn't sure about the best way to attach them to the wall, taking into account the width of the skirting board. So following some PH advice, I made spacers and screwed through them.

The other bit I was concerned about was drilling through the high gloss doors to fit the handles, but after more PH help, I decided to treat myself to some decent drill bits and drilled from the front with clamped an old bit of wood behind, which worked well.

At the moment we have got one wardrobe 90% done, with just the door alignment to adjust to finish it off, but we need another Ikea trip to pick up some bits for the other wardrobes. After 4 years of living together and sharing one small wardrobe, getting these finished and filled with clothes is going to be a big moment!

Our new bed is being delivered tomorrow and we have the curtains and curtain rails to fit, then all we need to do is buy dressing table/bedside tables and a chest of drawers and the room will be finished! As we are getting married next month, we will probably wait until after the wedding to move into the new room.

Elsewhere at 119, I'm really pleased with how the lawn has been looking the last week or so, after some lawn feed and all the sun/rain we have been having:

I must admit i cheated and paid the install team to come and put them up (floor to ceiling height with sliding glass doors).

Did you go for the led light strips? They work pretty well

No, we would have been able to plug them in on one wardrobe, but not the other. Probably should have thought about that when we had the rewire done, 3 years ago now!

I thought they were modular and connected together? On mine we have lights for the two wardrobes (stood next to each other). I drilled a hole in the ceiling through to the loft (to get at a standard plug socket that the network uses) and the next strip simply connected to the first.

We have a chimney breast between the wardrobes, I guess we could have gone up through the loft, but not worth it now.

Wardrobes are in!

Just need to align the doors and wait for the last drawer to come back into stock at Ikea.

The bed was delivered this morning too.

There hasn't been much progress recently as I was up in Scotland for my brother's wedding and there's been a lot of planning for our wedding in a few weeks.

We are almost there with having the bedroom ready for after the wedding. After spending most of the bank holiday looking at furniture and not finding anything we liked for the bedroom we went back to Ikea and picked up some bedside tables and a dreessing table in fake oak to match the wardrobes. Yesterday we also got the door hung and curtain rail fitted in the bay window. All that is left to do is a mirror, curtains, bedding, a light fitting and to move our clothes in.

Ideally we want to replace the whole path up to the garage, to include a small patio under the garage window, which will be in the sun when the veranda is in the shade and vice versa:

Hi Lewis, Do you know where the shed came from? I'm after a similarly sized one for our garden refresh and that looks ideal.

Also I feel you pain re the 500 and brake issue - my other half has just done the exact same with hers... even down to the funny noise and "I've no idea what's wrong" yikes
Thankfully the cars are so simple it only took about 30 mins to change discs and pads both sides.

Keep up the good work, best of luck with rest.

The shed was from Tiger sheds, a PH recommendation.

The silly thing with the 500 brakes is that Fiat fit a warning sensor, but to the pad that seems to wear the least.

Excellent will take a look, thank you.

I noticed that, although someone had disconnected the sensor on hers last time around, which when mentioned provided the ultimate excuse. biggrin

I'm going to give the car a pre winter mini service and re-lube the sliders etc, so hopefully this set of pads wears a bit more evenly.

I'm aware a full update is now overdue, not that there has been that much progress, but 18 months after the alarm was fitted it is finally linked to the garage door opener. It wasn't a particularly difficult fix, it has just dragged on due to a busy electrician then breaking his leg.

The carpenter finished the built in cupboards in the dining room, which is going to free up a lot of space in the kitchen.

The top doors are going to be glazed, but before that happens we have to paint them - one of those jobs which I think it going to take ages. Today we did the prep, masked off the walls, filled the holes and rubbed them down and are hoping to have the undercoat and first colour coat done next weekend.

We've also ordered a new front door, which should be fitted at the beginning of March. That is going to really tidy up the front of the house and is the first part of this years project - the hall, stairs and landing.

Those are ace, I've not seen them done as a top and bottom cupboard before, but the worktops that that gives you will be really useful!

Need to update my thread too.....

Living in the house makes the updates harder, our bedroom is done, but because we've been using it I haven't managed to take any photos of the finished room, without the clutter of daily life.

They look really nice, are they oak? Are you staining them or painting them a different colour?

the tops are oak, but the rest is pine/MDF, we're going to paint them an off white colour that the wife chose out the F&B swatches (then mixed by Johnsons).

Ready made would have been cheaper and less effort, even bespoke freestanding would have been cheaper I think, but this is what the wife wanted.
