Hi
This info is great. I need to upgrade my plumbing to mains pressure with a new megaflow cylinder and was checking if anyone knows if the inlet part of the aqualisa processors are the same for the pumped and mains pressure versions?
From the pictures i think it looks possible to remove the pump and the fitting that usually connects to the pump fit an outlet direct to the shower head. It looks to be the same screw on fitting as the inlet pipes and i think with a small modification it would be possible to pipe out the usual outlet hole in the housing ?
Its the old grey box like the pictures not the new black one with the switch for mains pressure (which seems to just turn the pump off).
So does anyone think this is possible ? Does anyone know if there is a difference in the inlet. I know aqualisa show max inlet pressure but i would guess that this is so no damage is done to the pump. Maybe even just disconnecting the pump would work ?

Thanks

I'd leave all in situ and just turn the dial in the box to high pressure.

Was just googling Aqualisa as I've got an annoying ticking noise coming from the box when the showers off and this thread came up top in the results.

Does anyone else have a faint ticking noise when the showers not being used? It's keeping me up at night and I'm having to disconnect the power to silence it which is quite a chore. The unit is brand new so I'm wondering if it's a manufacturing fault or are they are all like that?

Cheers.

Typically silent. Aqualisa will come out and sort it out, give them a buzz.

We're suffering the dripping shower head at the moment & this thread (Many thanks Simpo Two for posting)has given me the courage to have a go at fixing it in the near future. I was just wondering if anyone who has carried out this fix has had to re-do it and if so how long did the repair last before re-lubing?

Sorted the dripping out on mine 2yrs ago now and its been fine since. Easy fix tbh but it's threads like these that give you the basic info to get stuck in.

Thanks for that. I'm even more keen to have a go if it works that well.

Bought one off eBay 3 years ago to replace an electric shower and didn't want to rip off the tiles to run pipes down to a wall mounted mixer.
There's a way around this...... I fitted a Bristan shower 4 years ago for a customer who didn't want exposed pipes or the tiles knocking off (understandably). It has a chrome plated 25mm? (bad memory, sorry)pipe, and inside a 15mm copper pipe. These supply the Hot (through the 15mm) and cold (through the 25mm, so no burny fingers) from the loft via isolator valves. The pipes are attached to the mixer valve at the lower end, where the hose is. The shower head fixes to the riser rail... which is our friend the 25 chrome pipe! If that makes sense. It's a nice product, pretty easy to fit - I replaced the isolators supplied with full bore 90degree ones with handles to maximise the flow, but other than that it's perfect straight from the box and no electronics! I can't remember the name of it, but is was under £300, and customer was delighted (as I was)

I fixed the same drip several years ago thanks to Simpo's photos.

A new problem in the last few days though - the shower is much cooler for any given setting, the maximum temperature only gets fairly warm rather than scalding now. I've discovered that rebooting the processor gets it back to normal, but then in the space of a day it seems to bork again and need another reset.

I've not had a chance to remove the processor and open it up yet, but the symptoms suggest that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the main mechanicals. When the problem first struck I considered it might be a hot flow issue, the step motor or possibly a duff temperature sensor, but since resetting (temporarily) cures it I am presumably more likely experiencing a fault with a logic board.

Grateful for any insight or experiences with this problem? I expect I'll open it up, check nothing is getting damp and then have to consider either replacing with another grey unit from ebay (which are all getting on for 10 years old now..) or switching to the newer black model - though I hear flow rates are reduced on this.

These Aqualisa digital showers are a shower of ste. Online there are literally hundreds (probably thousands) of people that have had problems with the controller or dripping etc and Aqualisa just wash their hands of it and try and sell you another one.

We have one in the house we recently moved in to and it was displaying all combinations of the the problems listed in this thread. After some investigation, I discovered that the high voltage components on the board have a habit of failing after a few years which can cause the controller errors. Cheapest and easiest option is just to buy a second hand working version from ebay. As has been mentioned earlier in this thread, they tend to get removed when people upgrade / change boilers.

When I sort out bathroom out, I will change the shower for a proper pumped unit with a separate mechanical valve.

edit to say that when the first one failed, it was failing to turn on sometimes and failing to turn off at other times. Or sometimes both. (was especially worse if a second person tried to use the shower shortly after someone else had used it). Resetting the unit with the power switch helped for a short period but the problem got worse to the point it was unusable.

We gave up on them long ago in our new builds. Far too unreliable

I have been getting exactly this for the past few weeks, and now mine has stopped turning on or off altogether.

Could I ask how you reset yours? I can't find a power switch on the unit itself, so have turned it off and on again at the actual consumer unit. This hasn't worked. When I try to turn the shower on, I can hear a noise from the box as if it is 'trying' to start, but nothing happens.

Aqualisa will service/repair for £300 or replace for £550, but I'd prefer a cheaper option! It is our only shower, so I can't wait too long to decide.

Sounds like the moral of the story is to avoid Aqualisa products.

First port of call is to pull it apart and i'm sure you'll find one of the sprung rubber grommets that pushes against the disk is probably stuck in the black plastic mixer housing.

Also make sure you turn it off for a couple of minutes rather than a quick off/on.

Thanks. I'll go back through the thread and have a look at the pictures before I open it up tonight.

Thanks. I have noticed when I have had similar problems before that it responds better if left off for a while, but this time it hasn't made any difference.

When ours started to play up, sometimes it required 'resetting' / power cycling about a dozen times before it would work again. I actually installed a switch in the bedroom cupboard as a temporary workaround until I changed the pump - that way I could reset the shower without resetting the whole house. To cycle the power, switch off, leave off for 10 seconds or so and the power up again. Test the shower. If it still isnt working, repeat the process.

Thanks.

Ours has always been pretty random with power cuts, even when it was new. Sometimes it didn't work at all after an outage, sometimes it worked but the lights stayed on permanently for a few weeks.

This time, no amount of power cycling seemed to do it, but I left it for a few hours and it started working again of it's own accord. It has now picked up the very annoying habit of switching itself off occasionally during a shower, but it seems to switch straight back on again so not too big a problem.
