We sort of 'lost' a month over Christmas smile

All the dry lining and ceilings are going in right now so the builder is now confident for end March/1st week April wink

Well, let's put it this way, I will be in by then!!

Thanks, but you have people working for you, it's just me and my Dad! I have at least 11 weeks of work left by my estimates, includes building the bed and wardrobes and worktops from scratch though.
Well done you! Are you a builder? I'm not sure I would have been able to do what you have (although would love to try).

Well it seems we are now on the home straight - a lot has happened in the last 6 weeks. I've booked the week of April 14th off from work as that's our moving-in week.

We've now completed all first fix and plastering. All the wood cladding and aluminium fascias arrived this week and the painters started yesterday.

First coat of paint for the living room and kitchen/diner:

The red wall in the hallway:

The first fitting of the aluminium fascias and cladding:

The tiling starts next week. The aim is to finish the kitchen floor by Friday as the kitchen starts being installed on Monday 10th!

6 weeks and 4 lousy pics? Come on Gary, let's see some more smile
I'll go take some more tomorrow and also put up some from the last 2 weeks if that's what you want. I was not sure if people would get bored looking through all the interim steps.

Photobucket seems down at moment - so will post when it's back up!

You've been lucky with the weather this year thumbup Look forward to seeing some more.
We were very lucky - we got the roof completed just as the bead weather stared. Because there are lots of overhangs on the roof it meant that the inside never got wet, even before the windows went in during January.

Some cracking ceiling heights there. Looking great.
Cheers. The square footage is quite modest but the ceiling heights really make the place feel big.

Would the surround in ceilings have done further out (greater space between them) Gary?

Love the look of the whole place, but then I have from seeing drawings.

V.
They are about 3.5m apart. If you remember when I spoke to you I wanted to get them further apart if possible but the roof void further out had steel above so not enough depth for the speakers anyway and the metal frame for the suspended ceiling was also in the way so it was not possible.

Hi Gary could you please tell me where you got the tiles on the kitchen diner floor many thanks
All from Porcelenosa.

They are the PAR-KER Oxford range (which is a wood plank lookalike). The actual tile in the kitchen is PAR-KER Oxford Acero.

I also have PAR-KER Oxford Antracita in the bathrooms which I'll post pictures of when that's done in the next week or so.

It's interesting to see a different order of works between UK & Continental builders. For example, our decorating was all done after the tiling was completed.
Not sure it's been said before, but what's going on/around the 'fireplace' in the kitchen, since all the flooring's down already?
A tunnel gas fire goes in and then a fireboard false wall so that the opening is just for the glass tunnel. Then the whole thing is clad in stone.

Looks stunning.

Dont mean to be negative, but I wouldn't have had plasterboard in the shower zones, even if it is moisture resistant. Plus is there any form of Tanking between wet floor and walls?
No idea - some things I leave to the professionals without asking. I trust my builder implicitly and he's got a reputation for over engineering and the tiler is one he's used for years.

Hi Guys,

I spoke to my builder yesterday and he tells me we have this on the walls http://products.kerakoll.com/catalogo_dett.asp?idp...

And the floors are all being tanked.

As I said, I do not get involved in the details on some things as I know he'll do it properly.

That'll be fine if done properly. Menbranes are better but costly.

Front door is lovely! Urban front?
Thanks - I'm really happy with the front door. It's a custom build from a local joinery company.

I love the Urban Front stuff but way too pricey for me!

Do you have the guts to tell us how much per sq/m you got these for? Would love to know.
Unfortunately I cannot share - it's more down to the fact that my builder has an account with Porcelenosa and buys regularly from them and therefore gets a discount - but that's confidential between him and them.
