Another small project on the go. My son is out-growing his bed and shares my love of old American cars so asked me to build him something. First of all picked up a new set of draws for him and added some US licence plates...

I've got plenty of scaffold boards left still so the bed will be mostly made from those, first I've made a bed that will go under the main one to roll out when he had friends to stay or we need an extra bed.

Then I've started on the main bed, I managed to pick up a tailgate from a '49 Chevy Pickup it was well beaten up but I've straightened it out a bit but wanted some patina. This will be going on the footboard. First I made a frame for it and a bumper to go underneath.

Some paint going on and cleared the tailgate...

On to the wood work, lots of sanding!

Mock up...

Rady for varnish...

Danish oil on....

Then put some beeswax polish on with wire wool and assembled. Still waiting for some tail lights to turn up...

Now this is where I'm up to, just starting on the headboard...

Well I always like to keep busy so have been working more on the garden over winter, building a board walk path to connect the Smoke Shack and Tiki Bar as the ground gets a big boggy after it rains.

I also used the joists of the path to run power down from the Tiki Bar

And put some lighting along the path

But I could keep BBQing
Path all in

Which created some new beds so have been landscaping it in.

Two tonnes of cobbles (Scottish but I got them cheaper in Derbyshire?!)

Didn't go as far as I hoped!

Lots of New Zealand Flax

Looks great, but won't that boardwalk be very slippery?
I've covered them in exterior varnish and while it was wet I scattered kiln dried sand all over them. When dried just brushed off the excess. Now the surface is really grippy. They are also all on a slope so the water runs right off tvrforever said:
Looks bloomin' superb - top work, top effort, top imagination! respect sir

Cheers, appreciate it (Thanks for taking the time out to share and update the thread)
Next job is building a seating area for the firepit with integrated wood storage which should use up the last of the scaffold boards. Then just enjoy the garden. We are considering a kitchen extension so that may be the next big project.

Fantastic attention to detail as usual! I was in Matalan earlier on, spotted these and immediately thought of your Tiki Cabin!...

Thanks dude, I'lll look out for those http://www.matalan.co.uk/homeware/dining/glassware...
Well I'm finally at the bottom of my pile of scaffold boards that I bought. Got a mini digger for levelling the ground for the fire pit and seating area. This isn't squared up and fixed yet just been cutting it all in the glorious weather. There is space for fire wood storage under the seats. Should get about 15 people in there.

Not sure what happened to the drawing but I just found this photo of it. It changed a little as I built it, mostly the roof is not as steeply angled for better head room inside. And I used two full scaffold boards for the width of the roof to save cutting so it is 4.8 meters wide not 4m.
