Well the sparks finished and now all the lights are dimmers apart from the totally awesome led strips behind the glass shelves....

I can't wait to stick all the glasses and booze bottles on it to see them all lit up!

Started the decking yesterday after levelling the area. It's not perfectly level but should be good enough.

Want to get as much of the decking done as possible today as the carpet is being fitted at 8am tomoz then we can start the final clean.

Okay right, trimmed the decking to finish this morning, tidied it all up a bit and hopefully will get a coat of paint on the decking after work this afternoon...

Matt - as have just bought one from them as well (not as huge as yours!) I was trying to work out from your first picture what base you've got down? Is it a concrete one?

That's bigger than the half million pound flats that they sell around here.

Yep it's to concrete base, cost about £900 (£320ish was the pump to get it down the garden from the drive)
Level area, mark out area, lay granular sub base, whacker plate the area (£40 a day ish) create shuttering (frame), lay dpm down, pour cement in by pump or wheel barrow or make yourself, tamper with a huge piece of wood going back and fourth as it sets. Leave to go off- bosh!

The bases DH offered the salesmen said might not be strong enough for a slate bed pool table- weighs about 25+ stone. Didn't want it sagging.

I know I know, it's on the list- it's our neighbours! I will just do it next year I doubt she'll stump up a contribution.

We've just done ours, both sides and across the back, next door are pensioners so we didn't ask them, just paid there bit, the other neighbours claimed not to be bothered so again didnt chip in, because they didnt chip in we sunk all the posts etc into their gardens so we get all the nice looking sides biggrin

Well it's all getting there! Had a bit of a problem with some of the paint coming off some of the decking- we started painting it in slightly damp conditions thinking it'd be ok but I guess not haha! Run out too so will have to pop out for more but it's a trade only one so it'll have to wait, no rush though...
Bloody rain won't stop so I'm constantly emptying the water butts with a hose over the flower beds, I might have to dig a soak-away at this rate.

Chris my neon sign genius has sent me some progress pics from the sign...
These are just a couple to test the wire etc so plenty more to do before it's finished I'm told! Looking awesome though!

The name came from a joke about mine and swmbo's surnames before we even thought of putting a bar in this thing but after a post in 'the lounge' for an idea for a sign we got a few funny pics of which this was the best! Then Chris stepped forward to say he makes neon signs as a hobby looking to make it into a business. Perfect!

Put the TV up in there today- nearly broke my back lifting it on my own but looks swish! It's our tele out of the house so bought a new one in there with the samsung cash back deal on at the moment if you get a 2nd item from the same store/website. So bought a DVD hifi to go with it, should get it all up and running this weekend with the booze in too!

Aren't you doing things in the wrong order? Surely the booze should have been in first. A man doing a shed/cabin build without beer to hand is a bit like a chef cooking without a glass of wine wink
Looking good.

I'm astonished at your work rate on it. Mine is 11 months old and no where near finished.

The pace is slowing don't worry haha!
Ordered some simple roller blinds to keep out prying eyes and smarten up the windows somewhat.

They were made to measure from direct blinds, £160 for 7. Not bad I thought!

Bar is stocked (didn't realise how much space there was so will be buying more when we pop over to Calais next week)

Tv is up and running but need an indoor aerial if I decide to bother. Prob won't bother at the mo with the weather currently.
Might move the ps3 here in summer. Wii is in and working, all 4 speakers wired and running from the stereo and tv. They sound amazing and far far louder than I could get away with with the neighbours!

All pictures are up apart from the neon sign (due in a week) and a kind donation in the form of a coca mirror from the parent's spare bedroom wall haha. It's really feeling homely except I still have to order some bar stools.

Speaking of seating...
Why waste good money on sofas etc when £117 can get you the full leather seats from an audi a6? Haha!
I love ebay! The stupid guy towed a non running audi a6 on a trailer with a vw polo! and wondered why he crashed and ripped the back off the polo and totalled the audi haha.

A bit of wood frame underneath, some ply round the sides and leatherette fabric nearly covering it all- jobs a goodun.

Slightly getting in trouble for making it too manly now so may need to stuff some potpourri and flowers in there.

Noticed in one of your pictures that you have a wall mounted electric convector directly under the corner of your TV - possibly not a good plan.

A thought though you probably don't have the head room (unless tall people want to risk decapitation) - have you thought about a ceiling fan. In winter it'll blow risen heat into the roof back down and you may be glad of it in summer for cooling!

Hi, yeah I know what you mean but it's a front blowing fan and I was in there all last night and it didn't heat any of the tv up at all. Thanks for the heads up tho!
