Just noticed that Aldi sometimes have these type of hot tubs available under the Intex brand for £300. Anyone know if these are actually Lay-Z-Spa's under a different badge?

Seems that the Intex has a 3 year warranty, so may be worth holding on until they have some more in stock

I have an intex, I'm told it's a marvelous bit of kit, never been it in mind you.

Great, thank you - that will teach me not to ignore the Q&A section in future! That is a nice option to have, which makes me question whether the Vegas is worth going for unless massively discounted.
We have the Vegas, and using it last night with the heating running it dropped a few degrees just with removing the lid. Approx 10deg outside at the time.

With the bubbles running and the heater going on the St Tropez I can't see that reducing the heat loss rate to make a decent difference. The heat loss with the bubbles going is significant!
We can drop the temp 10deg with bubbles on in an hour, the heater at best can lift the temp 1/2deg an hour.

I'm surprised they don't offer each model in different colours. The model I want is only available in brown, but I want black. I would have thought the white ones would soon get dirty/mouldy being outside all summer/year.

Thanks for the noise feedback! I was worried about the new neighbours / noise, but seeing as they just put a 4ft long windchime in their back garden next to my fence, they can put up with a hot tub noise when the bubbles are running!

Windchime!!! I feel your pain. Those things should be illegal.

I am hoping there is a special place in hell with a particularly sadistic sidekick of Beelzebub who owns an extensive collection of particularly imaginative instruments of torture for the person who introduced windchimes to the UK.

Don't be silly. With the amount of low level tarnishing of the soul that the rotten things are responsible for, the person who did it is in the Directors Boxes, sipping eternal cold beer.

Fortunately (she says with her fingers crossed) because they're quite big, although they make a horrid clonking noise when they do "chime" they aren't jingling constantly. I think because they're a bit heavy, it takes more than a gentle breeze to disturb them !

Do you guys have the spa running 24x7 i.e. humming 24x7 ?

Nice purchase. I'd be very interested to find out how you get on with it, and the noise levels etc.

I bought the Paris a few weeks back with all the accessories I could buy! Used it most days. Certainly can't remember the last time I spent £400 and felt the same value for money. I did think it would be a total PoS but really surprised. The Paris has the lights which look great at night and also comes in the off white colour which matches our patio and helps it not look like a kids paddling pool!!

Is it ok to put the Paris on a paved patio I does it need to go on something softer like grass?

Cheers

I would definitely put it on paved patio, I do. You can get a foam base (as an extra) to give the tub a bit of protection, or buy some foam mats from B&Q. Don't put in on the grass unless you never want grass in that area ever again!

Wouldn't that be incredibly bad for the projector? All that moisture.

Whats the worst that could happen?

There's been a least one of the family in it every day. I check chemical balance daily (usually add some chlorine, added some PH plus today). Change filter weekly and clean a couple of times midweek. Noise with just the filter isn't really noticeable. With bubbles on it's not too bad either.

I like the idea of one of these as my wife is very keen to get a hot tub; they do seem like a good interim measure, but running costs costs seem high.

£2 or £3 a day soon adds up and worst case you could spend x3 the cost of the unit running the damn thing within 1 year - assuming of course you use it all year around (as my wife assures me she would do)

We already have a flat concrete base we could use and I imagine my 2 and 3 year old would bloody love it.

Hmmmm decisions decisions.

If you look on the lazy boy spa website it will tell you how to look after you spa. They also have a tent to enclose it among other things

Well.... Mines lasted 3 days!! Bought the miami on offer for £250, enjoyed 3 nights and all a sudden the filter pump is making a right racket, like the impeller is vibrating to the point I've had to turn it off as the noise is driving me mad.

Sent Bestway an email asking for a replacement although reading online their customer service is st so might take weeks frown

On the other hand, I left mine out over winter, full of chlorinated water in freezing temperatures. I spent yesterday giving it all a thorough clean, filled it up and I've been out in it tonight for a good hour at 40°C.

I bought it to see if it was justifiable spending £10k on a proper one. I think I'll keep using this until it gives up the ghost. Over 50% of the experience of a real hot tub at less than 10% of the price.
