We empty ours out every 4-5 weeks and then generally don't re-fill it.

Pulled the drain plug last night actually.

Then if its a nice day I can have it back full in max 2 hours incl cleaning it etc. Using hot tap I put 1/3 cold and 2/3 hot and its normally 40c ish.

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but are the heaters in the Lazy Spas that run off a 3-pin plug powerful enough to keep the water hot (40 degrees) through an Edinburgh winter?

We'd probably use it for about an hour at a time and would want the water to stay hot for that period. Not fussed about jets or lounger seats particularly so it feels like the Lazy Spas offer everything we want at a much cheaper price than the full plastic tub-style ones.

The thing that really cools it down is running the air pump.

With the lid on and insulation on the ground it will easily keep it at 40c.

But once you take the lid off, esp in the winter, it will start to slowly cool. Mabye 1c every couple of hours.

However as noted above, if you run the bubbles then it will drop much faster. We spend on average about an hour in ours (2 x cycles of bubbles) and its normally dropped 4c in that time. Its a bit of a chicken and egg situation.

Hi,

I'm a new Lazy Spa Hawaii owner, bought this weekend, got all set up fine, including a nice 50mm layer of KingSpan insulation under it. Having used it a couple of times I have noticed there is a large air bubble formed in the floor liner e.g. where you sit down. The liner is lifting around 2cm's away from the foam base, and around the size of a football in diameter. I have tried to squash it to see if air escapes in to the hot tub, but no signs of any bubbles come out. it's not getting any bigger either, but I'm sure it was not there when I first filled it up on Sunday. Does anyone else have this or seen something like it? I am thinking perhaps there is a damaged seam between the liner & the air blower ring around the base, and air from the blower is getting under the floor or something.

Also another problem - the led temperature read out has a faulty section which is half illuminated and makes it hard to read the temperature. I'm going to contact Betway about this to see about a replacement, again - is there any experience on this, is it a common fault? Would you return to B&Q where I bought on Sunday, or go via manufacturer?

thanks everyone!

Our Hawaii has a similar bubble in the floor. It hasn’t grown and we don’t notice it any more

Right, I am going for it. My Hawaii is staying out all winter. Best time to use it and don’t fancy repairing splits from putting away. Going to put three separate layers underneath and additional cover over the top. It’s already in a wood gazebo with three sides having some sort of shelter. I have feather boarded the pump area into the gazebo and will place kings pan around it (not tight up as it will overheat). Laggin pipes with bubble wrap. Heater will be set to 32degrees and I have set a calendar alert on phone to check and turn on off every 72 hours so it doesn’t shut down. Fingers crossed!

What layers are you adding top & bottom ?
I'm still trying to get my shed finished due to a lack of weatherboard but i'm similar with 3 open edges

i don't think you need to worry to much, mine was sat out on the decking completely open to the elements all last winter and has been fine.

Cannot remember but, if you lose power does the pump just carry on from last known setting or do you have to turn the pump on again physically?
If not, can hook up to a 13a smart plug and do a quick on and off every few days.

You do right using it in winter, one of the best times to use it especially with snow on the ground thumbup

Using gym foam floor pieces from Decathlon, the lazy spa bubble Matt and some thin reflective floor insulation we used under wood floor in house. On top just a waterproof cover over the standard cover, may add a horse blanket but it’s well sheltered by gazebo sides

I don’t think it resumes, you have to turn on the pump and heater and set the temp. Already have a smart plug for the lights so would have loved that to work

Power cycle will return the pump to off.

Packed ours away last weekend, only used it 5 or 6 times this year due to the weather being iffy most of the year.

I'm in two minds about leaving mine out over winter.

On one hand - if it's there, it'll get used.

On the other, I have worries over it being cripplingly expensive to run. And slight concerns about it freezing (though should be fine as long as it's set to 10deg?).

It sits out on the patio for the most part. There's a rumor from CinC home that it'll be slightly submerged and having a Gazeebo built around it but I can't see that happening in the short term.

Any experiences?

Ours lives outdoors all year round. I set it to keep it “warm” at 30°c and then ramp up to 38-40°c - few hours before we use it.

Beneath it is the lazy spa bubble mat insulation and some 1cm foam silver sided insulation.

Works a treat and gets used almost every day.

Ah thats a shame. I guess depending how technical you are running one of these inside the unit, running the relay parallel to the heat on switch would do the job I imagine?

I've got one to work my gates, great little things.

here you go, there is a bit of protection from the hedge at the back but its deciduous so not much in deep winter.

Looks good. I suspect the raised deck really helps too

I am convinced that if you shield it from the wind, place it on insulation and use air traps where you can (covers, feather edge boards, Kingspan, tarps etc) it will
be fine. But the caveat in my thinking is the heater must be set to 30 deg plus throughout, all of the above giving it the best chance of any easy life!
