Hi - We're currently in the process of renovating a bathroom and I would like to install a countertop basin that sits on a stone shelf. This is the sink:
https://www.mandarinstone.com/product/_/7764/ecru-... on a stone shelf.
Is it as easy as just going to a stone mason and specifying the size of the slab to be cut as well as a hole for the waste?
I've tried google and all i can find available is this shelf. https://www.lussostone.com/vanity-units-c11/counte...

Any ideas, or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Find a local granite benchtop company, it'll be a nice easy job to chuck on the cnc saw.

It would make it more cost effective to check their remnants for a colour you like, rather than buy a whole slab and pay for the wastage.

I had a local stone mason do this for a bathroom of mine a while ago. I made a template from thin ply with the supply and waste holes for the guy to copy. He had some offcuts to choose from to save buying a whole length as the piece was around 600 x 900mm. Worked out really well and was around £160 iirc. Olympian Stone in Deal, Kent did it but I guess there must be others nearer.

Thanks for the tips. Ended up getting a slate off cut. The only problem I have now is brackets to fix to wall. What sort of brackets dos you end up using ?

If the countertop is going in an alcove, surrounded by three sides, then I'd use oak baton screwed to the wall on three sides.

If the countertop is not in an alcove then I'd probably use stainless steel brackets.

Do you have a decent wall to affix it to?

Good question. It's going to need some sort of bracing. Which I've spoken to the builder about.
