Have recently had a few quotes for replacement composite doors for our house.

So far we have had a quote from a local company offering an unbranded composite door (have found out through digging that they buy from Eurocell), and the price is £1100.

We have also had a quote from Rockdoor for £1360.

The rockdoor seems to have more choice available and the specification is good. Has anyone managed to successfully haggle with them?

we have two fitted, one set recently, i didn't know they came direct, a local company fitted them

i wouldn't haggle anyway, as small business owner everyone is entitled to make a profit/living, i find it strange people don't think that and feel everything is up for negotiation,

Solidor are certainly worth a look if you want something higher end.

You can price up a door here yourself to get an idea of what you're being charged for fitting.

We had DoorStop doors done (two of them), very happy with them - just a shame that we dont live there any more!

Thanks all.

Didnt want to just go with the cheapest if we could get a better product for not far off.

Im sure the Rockdoor supplier didnt want to miss out a sale just because of a small difference in price, so I mentioned we had a budget to stick to and they met us half way.

All happy so far.

I've just gone through this while process myself (there's a thread on the next page).

My concultion was this

Rockdoor ultimate - very good door however the unnamed lock brand didn't really fill me with confidence. Also found they were a lot more ( around £200) compared to the solidoor.

One stop - unfortunately I discounted these because of the salesmen selling them were just awful and if I were comparing them I felt paying an extra £200 for a solid door wasn't the end of the world.

Solidoor - unlike the Rockdoor it has a solid wood filling as Rockdoor is just compacted insulation so it felt a more solid door. It also made me feel that it wouldn't be able to get kicked in. it also comes with ultion locks as standard which have some of the best reviews for 3* locks in the UK at the minute. Finally for me it came out cheaper by about £100

Unfortunately solidor dont have the style that we are looking for.
The quotes I got for Solidor didnt include union locks and instead were an upgrade they offered. They did come out cheaper,
