We have scaffolding up and the roofer on site only to find that when his supplier went to pick up the tiles ordered several weeks ago and supposedly ready for collection today from the manufacturers depot they (depot) had sold them to someone else. Been told the tiles are now on an eighteen week lead time.

If you are planning to get your roof replaced I'd suggest getting the tiles delivered before any work starts.

The supplier has persuaded* the manufacturer to find some tiles, they are in Portsmouth so one of his drivers has had a nice little run from Dartford to go and get them.

* This may have included use of blow torches and pincers, common tools of the roofing trade after all.

The lead time on orders is now 21 weeks apparently, I wonder if Porsche has branched out into concrete tile manufacture?

If they are Marley then I can well believe it, they seem to have forgotten how to run their company over the last 18 months or so. They are pissing off lots of contractors who will use other manufacturers from now on I'd imagine.

No naming and shaming, but they may indeed be backed up by the Wailers...

We plan to start building a house this year and their products are not likely to feature highly in the build. We had already decided to go with Canadian slate for the roof for other reasons and this makes us feel even better about that choice. To be fair getting hold of concrete tiles from any of the top three manufacturers is ridiculous at the moment.

Hmmm, tile times have been dire for a year or so now, and it sounds like they are going to Portsmouth to steal some of my stash biggrin We have 145000 down there. Probably poetic justice, as it was more than likely us who nicked your stash if they were in Dartford. tongue out

It not just a new thing with them they where useless 15 years ago when I build my house, Ive a rather complicated roof and the builders merchant recommended I got them to do the material take off, A service they offered. as we progressed we found that we where short of the verge tiles when asked they said oh we have stopped making them we have none left. After a lot of hassle some appeared but a slightly different colour! anyway roof was finished to find we had 9 meters of spare ridge tiles and almost a 1000 roof tiles left over, again they shrugged their shoulders and said we don't want them back we have stopped making them.
Would i ever buy their stuff again would I hell!
