Which cordless vacuum?
Discussion
Have had a Bosch Athlet for the last 2 years which has physically broken. John Lewis have given me a credit for £280 for a new one. I don't want another Bosch as the fitting of the accessories is a pain and almost impossible for Mrs G.
The Dyson V8 seems to be the dogs danglies but is £420. The V6 and V7 will not provide enough run time so the V8 is the only option in the Dyson range.
Had anyone got a Dyson V8 and is it worth it? Reviews are good but would prefer a real life testimonial before forking out such crazy money for a vacuum.
Cheers!

Not the v8 but the v6.
Also not mine my gf mum uses it, iv had a shot, and the gf talks my ear off about it.
Suction is great, really light. Actually enjoyed having a shot, and I dont like hoovering. She loves it, hoovers most the house on one charge, v8 lasts longer and is a bit heavier but cant compare as iv not used. They have turbo buttons to suck even harder, halfs the battery. Normal suction is already better than my henry. Hes old though.
For one thing, its alot easier to pick up than pull henry out the cupboard. When I get one (they do offers every Christmas btw) im sure ill quickly hoover mess up, id normally just leave to deal with later, just with ease of use.
She moans about emptying it. Sure the dust pops out easy, its the long hairs she has to kind of pull out. Maybe she does it wrong, iv never emptied it.

As above with the V6
If the battery runs down just chill out and have a coffee no fighting to drag it out of a cupboard and looks good hung on the wall.
With two dogs and two cats it’s a must to regularly clean the filter (I bought a spare) and brush heads.
Poor old Henry has been relegated to the garage.

Got the V6. On normal setting the suction is no more than our old £60 Black and Decker. The turbo boost is pretty much as powerful as our main Miele but only lasts around 6 or 7 minutes.
Great for us pet owners and for the odd quick blast of the kitchen floor and skirting boards but a bit expensive and can't replace the main vacuum with so little battery life.

Don't buy a V8 without checking in with me first
This is _very_ good advice. I have the V8 total clean. I have a mixture of tile, wood and carpet floors and it’s great for them all. Bought it to replace an elderly stick Dyson and it’s streets ahead. Don’t really use the boost setting.
Miniman sorted out a super deal and I even bought one for my Mum.

I've got a shark. It's bloody brilliant. Does the kids muck in the car, my kayaking detritus, and handled the clean up of a bathroom refit really well. Cheap as chips too.
Same! We went for the flexi one, so it bends at 90 degrees making it easy for under beds, sofas etc We've just bought a gtech mk2 k9 after our bosch athlet packed in after 3yrs service, the gtech lasts for around 40 mins against about 10 mins for the bosch on turbo power ( that you need it on)
Overall i am very pleased with the gtech and would say it out performs the bosch and seems better built.

We've just bought the V8 Absolute. Fair enough we've got deep pile carpets but it's lucky if it lasts 15mins on full power.
For a quoted 40 min run time I assume you're running in turbo with powered attachments?LaurasOtherHalf said:
