There's an office block going up behind my block of flats, nearing completion. The main framework is made of concrete, sensible enough, however the walls started off as a metal framework onto which what looks like polystyrene blocks were affixed. And then there's been a thin render over the top.

Is this normal? Surely it would give the outside walls a similar durability to eggshell- The render's not thick enough to do much either!

By metalframework do you mean SFS? Not used it on an office block, but we've had it on a few other schemes.

Not sure really... To me it looks like a metal version of the studwork you'd put in for a plasterboard wall!
