Man cabin production has begun, bought from dunster house.

It's 7.5 x 4.5m and it's basic function is to house a dart board, bar, pool table and wii!
It arrived last Monday and started building it when not at work on Saturday.
It's triple therm meaning floor walls and ceiling are insulated.
Arrived in 4 huge piles plus all the insulation and glass etc in the garage.

Insulated chipboard before roof membrane goes on...

Hot tub would be awesome it's still on the cards haha!
Haha yep midget graves will be covered with decking.
I'll be painting the whole thing ASAP next week 'mid oak' trade paint they supplied us with, I think it is x70 something or another come to think of it!
Really really pleased with the quality it is brilliant, only a few planks that were warped that could be squished down with the weight higher up.
The instructions are pretty poor. They sell larger cabins as two separates that join together but have separate instructions all different fonts, scales, clarity etc. Then if you want it insulated etc it doesn't really make it clear which order it all goes in. Basically it's do able if you're diy handy but it helps if you have two heads, read all the instructions thoroughly over and over and keep all piles of wood separate.
The guy delivering was really nice but they only drop it off which with me doing most of the lifting took 2 hrs. To get it through to the garden it took me n swmbo 4 back breaking hrs.
If you want it built then they will carry it all through for you and charge £2500. Ouch!
Oh and when you do have a problem, I called and they said email customer services. No phone number as I was told when we ordered but a 4 hour wait for a question.
Those aren't really too big a problem though I'm just saying everything for an honest account.
We went to their Bedford show room and chose a cheaper product from there because it was so good and didn't seem worth spending more for something we realistically wouldn't use everyday.
The guy was really helpful and we paid in a few instalments as we didn't want it till October. Paid the balance a few days before delivery.

Yep sparky will be coming back during the week to feed electrics through, it would have been better to do it as we went along but once I started building I needed to really crack on to get it waterproof so I'll just have some discreet trunking along the back wall.

Going to have armoured cable running from the garage, supplying:
2 heaters
Directional spot lights with dimmer
Led rope lit shelving for the bar area
3 double plugs for the fridge, tv, wii, stereo etc.
3 up and down lighters for the outside to light the decking once down.

Carpet guy is coming round next week also as he's a work neighbour and can get us a good deal. Might board out the floor for a more secure less creaky floor. Then a rather tough waring carpet will go down, don't want to be worrying about dirty shoes and people throwing up on it, so we've seen a carpet you can clean with watered down bleach. Just the ticket i think!

Yeah I had noticed the pitch was a little low but seemed a good enough angle for the run off. The cabin came supplied with a black membrane that I stapled down on to which the shingles were nailed through. The only iffy bit I could see was the ridge so have applied a heathy amount of roof polymer stuff under to help. Otherwise it all seems nice and tight.

Right well it's been a busy weekend, managed to get the roof finished between showers!

Couldn't paint the inside yet without first making it look like leopard print! Used 4 bottles of knotting solution from wickes to stop the little buggers seeping through.

Oh and we managed to get the first coat of outside paint done before the heavy rain!

Next job put up the trims inside and fiddle with the door to get the locks to work. Then undercoat!

I think the basic cabin single ply like a huge shed starts at about 5k without options. This comes in at 10k! A lot but it is huge and we can use it all year round.
The bar (yet to be built) was another £300.
I'll itemise everything at the end but I predict about 13-14k!
A lot but worth it for us!

Yeah it's all within permitted development. The concrete base is about 1m away but the cabin sits further in than that. If it was within a metre then I'd also have to have it fire proofed (paint that costs an extra £300).
Decided to do something more fun tonight so made up the bar-it's so sturdy and weighs a tonne.

Haha yep think it's like a foot rest, comes with a bright galvanised metal tread that slips on but I'm painting it with some hammerite first.
The whole things going to be a trip hazard with the amount of drinking that'll be going on. I need it already!
Going to dig a 'puke moat' for guests who over enthusiastically drink!

The beauty is that it looks super insulated. How are you going to heat it? It is crying out for a wood burner.
Well a wood burner wood be awesome but I know I won't be arsed to light it! Going with 2 electric panel heaters that the spark said would be like boiling a kettle in terms of usage and should keep it toasty on low. We'll see!

It looks great, OP and youve done brilliantly to assemble it so quick IMO. How many people on the job?
Well I planned on getting lots of help but brother went on holiday, swmbo's son buggered off up north home after the first day, then when the others saw what a big job it was they made their excuses haha.
But I did have a shining light in the form of b-i-law who has popped back about 4 days putting in about 20hrs work. He's really practical and just manages to work things out without reading the terrible instructions. He's been a huge help and so I bought him an engraved glass tankard with 'Nige's pint, I built this bloody bar so hands off'. He liked it anyway!

Did some undercoating today. Lost the will to live and will rope swmbo in on the project again!

Are you going to shoot down to the Hogsback Brewery and see if you can get some proper taps etc for the bar?
Haha might have to in the new year i think! Funnily enough the ex-owner and founder comes up our restaurant quite a lot, may have to ask him if he has any left over tat!

That looks really good, hadn't thought of that. Sparky has quoted and is booked in so its a bit late though now, but thanks anyway!

Update is, built some shelf brackets/housing for what will be the booze shelves. I need to order three 1200 x 200 x 10mm tempered glass shelves, looking at £140 inc delivery. I tried not to rely on the walls too much as they need to be as free as possible for expansion.

All is undercoated now thank god, and emulsion is the name of the game now. Something boring like hessian on the walls and white ceiling so it blends with the carpet (light brown for muck proofing ) and bar (same colour as outside) and the pool table cloth (red)
So it looks like this atm...

Next up, electrics should be done tuesday/wednesday, armoured cable from the garage.
Then next up is to decide whether the 50" tv we have inside will hang on the wall. I may have to make a frame up, what does everyone think i should do?
It weighs 44.8k/7.05 stone.

My man Chris is on the case with a neon sign for indoors, can't wait for that. And a mate is going to help me with an outdoor one that should nicely blend in with the outside.

Carpet was a hefty £1050 cash fitted due to the sheer size, 30 mtrs sq. I trust the guy and it seems fair, should look cool as it will have a built in mat with silver trim. We'll see anyway!

Not thinking about the total cost until i have a drink in my hand haha!

Haha na I'm no way smart enough for that! It's a kit, £300 from the same place as the cabin. Think it's on offer now for like £270, but you might have to pick it up. It's bloody strong and good quality. Needs to prop up some weary drunkards!

^^^ Haha, not wife yet, the cabin is one of my premarital conditions.

Right been really busy this week with work so haven't had a chance for daily updates.
We're getting there now, electrics just need a bit of tidying up and dimmers going on instead of switches.
Really pleased with the lighting it should look good once it's dark.

Bar has had two coats of the same paint as outside and looks brilliant, it's very well made and sits flush against the wall. Going to secure it to the floor before the carpet turns up as it'll have a nicer finish that way.

This lot turned up this morning- the guys couldn't be bothered to reverse in so bunged it in front of the entrance! Typical service from a company that shall remain nameless haha wink
Thats all the decking and mini fit guttering arrived.

Ripped up lots of the old bags from previous aggregate deliveries and some old tarp for going under the decking as a cheap weed membrane. On top of that is going to be some sub base onto which the bearers should sit.
I've yet to order them as I needed to work out the shape near the flower beds.

Next up is to wheelbarrow all the sub base down. I've ordered a tonne to go round the back of the cabin to put some storage on, compost bin ladder etc and water butts.

Love this project.

Observation re the bar though. It's really great but I think it's too dominating. I feel you should lose the pillars and the roof section and keep the base unit.
I see what you mean but it's really not that bad in real life. Is all just a bit of (expensive) fun and there's plenty of space in there still. I'll get some estate agent style pic's when it's all done.

Right, dart board is up- took ages spraying it gloss black all over and then realised the doors don't shut so won't been seen anyway! Haha!
It's at 'regulation height' so not going to move it.

Water butts arrived today, pretty bloody big so should take some filling! £55 each and another £37 for a stand- so didn't bother with a stand. I used some sub base for a solid ground, old concrete fence posts removed a few months ago criss crossed and an old paving slab to make it high enough for a bucket to go under. Will prob attach some hose though.

Electricians still to finish, they forgot about the Led strips for behind the glass shelves so they've got to come back, which is good so I can eke out paying them till Friday haha!
The glass shelves turned up- they look beautiful, 10mm thick so should easily cope with the vast array of booze!

Carpets booked for Monday can't wait, plus decking to do at the weekend. Lots of decking!

Matt

Well the sparks finished and now all the lights are dimmers apart from the totally awesome led strips behind the glass shelves....

I can't wait to stick all the glasses and booze bottles on it to see them all lit up!

Started the decking yesterday after levelling the area. It's not perfectly level but should be good enough.

Want to get as much of the decking done as possible today as the carpet is being fitted at 8am tomoz then we can start the final clean.
