I'm finally getting round to kitting out my little boy's playroom (he is 6 months old), we have got 3 Ikea Kallax units on one wall facing the door and opposite this we want a decent sized corner sofa.

Now most of the sofas we have seen don't offer any kind of storage under the seats which seems a bit of a waste, I've got sports bags and he will have bigger toys that need to be stored out of the way so my plan is to use two Ikea storage units as a base, fit some ply on top, hinge them and get some cushions made up to form a sofa, with the back cushions being up against the wall.

The problem I have is that every kind of cut to order sofa foam retailer wants to charge an absolute fortune for the stuff, let alone the costs of upholstering it. Is anyone able to suggest a suitable foam supplier or person that can make the cushions?

A staple gun, some spray adhesive and a few metres of fabric should be doable for a man of your talents.

I have bought similar foam before for another purpose but there are so many different grades it's difficult to tell what the good stuff is. I'd like to be able to take the cushions off and wash them because they will be getting grubby so spray glue and a staple but might not cut it unfortunately.

I was hoping you would reply! Any suggestions on where is the best place to get this stuff these days? Is there any particular spec of the scatter cushion foam I should be looking for? Is 4 inches also thick enough to be really comfortable if it is on a solid base?
