What made you choose your specific breed of Dog?

I don't own a dog.
But if I did it would be a Visla. I see one trotting along aside it's wax-jacketed owner early every morning and it is to my eyes the epitome of what a dog should look like.
Having read about them their loyal and good nature is very appealing as is the short hair, lack of shedding, and lack of odour.
One day.
Here is Louis our 10 month Viszla. But if I did it would be a Visla. I see one trotting along aside it's wax-jacketed owner early every morning and it is to my eyes the epitome of what a dog should look like.

We chose this breed due to the temperament, shape, colour and short hair.
He really is a Velcro dog and loves people and animals.
It's been very rewarding seeing him learn and grow into a handsome and well behaved dog (most of the time)

We both work, so we needed a dog that could happily sleep all day. We knew we didn't want a puppy.
We also wanted a calm temperament. After a lot of searching, we ended up with a retired greyhound.
Hes been with us since April and we couldn't imagine life with out him
I'm told that's what we're getting to keep our Staffy company, should be a fun mix.We also wanted a calm temperament. After a lot of searching, we ended up with a retired greyhound.

I REALLY want a grey, but as we have a house rabbit, I think I'll have to wait :/I want an English Bully, but it's not going to happen with prices as they are

Mrs Hooli has told me we need one. She used to have one who was retired with a broken steering toe (whatever one of them is) she took him racing & he started winning again, seems the syndicate who owned him before weren't happy when she wouldn't sell him back to them

I think that there will be a Bully rescue centre somewhere in the country with Dogs looking for good homes.I want an English Bully, but it's not going to happen with prices as they are
I've always wanted a Labrador.
I like the look, the happy nature of them and how they act with other dogs.
I couldn't get one for years, parents said no.
So, i went out and bought one. I was going to get a golden one, but a guy off here got in touch and i found a gun dog breeder selling Fox Red ones.
After viewing them, and the breeder liking me to have one. I parted with my cash and i took home Alfie.
That was just over 2 years ago and i wouldn't part with him. Everyone bar one person i know loves him and his soft gentle nature, he doesn't work but is a much loved family dog.

Lou is a miniature and you wouldnt believe the hoops we had to jump through to get her. she was expensive but you get what you pay for - ive sen full size and mini bullies on gumtree/preloved for £200 but they have big genetic problems and wont last long.
we wanted a dog that suited our love of getting out and about hiking, walking etc
we looked at Weimaraners, vizslas and pointers and in the end settled on a black German short haired pointer.
what a cracking dog, fitted in brilliantly and went everywhere hiking with us.
strong, athletic, obedient and loyal.
Scout passed away last week peacefully in his sleep at the age of 13 , what a dog.

Grew up with 2 full size White English bull terriers and loved their nature and odd look. Finally managed to talk the missus into getting a dog, then had to talk her into an EBT - she'd never seen one.
My sister is in the vet game and mentioned one of her clients had a miniature. So the search began. After a year of researching and talking to the (very) few kc recognised breeders we ended up with Lou.
She's 9months old now, weighing 13kg and unbelievably strong. She thinks she is a human, sitting upright on her couch, burping and wrestling. She also has an unhealthy obsession with ear lobes.
6 weeks of 121 training didn't do a great deal - if she's in the mood, she'll do whatever you ask her to. If she's being grumpy she will ignore you.

However, we chose the Smooth Fox Terrier as it seemed to fit our requirements.
This is the breed average standard:
However, we ended up with :
And since the above was clearly broken outside of warranty, we bought one of these :
Sadly, that too was broken and taken from us by cancer....
The defective model, however, appears able to vastly outstrip any from of guarantee as to life expectancy.....
despite going deaf and losing sight....
BUT, if I wasnt so in love with the idea of a smaller EBT, I would have another in a heartbeat.....

I've always loved northern breeds, to me they are as near to a true dog as you can get (in my eyes that is)
My, still dearly missed, Samoyed
My current Malamute, daft as a brush never fails to make me smile

And our English Mastiff, he was the wife/daughters choice after our GSD passed away (no pics of him on this computer) the softest dopiest dog Ive eve known.
