Saw a bit of a program last weekend suggesting puppy/dog play groups at vets. So that they get used to going there just to have fun then when they go there for treatment they aren't scared of the building or smells.
They can be a good idea for certain pups, just make sure that the group has some experienced supervision, the last thing teeny weeny Fifi McTimid wants is to be bowled over by half a dozen overexuberant labs bounce so she then has a fear of the vets premises AND a fear of rude dogs! A bit like children, just because pups are the same age, doesn't mean that they all develop at the same rate.

Nothing serious hope, did she know?
Judging by her happy and positive looking face; probably not!

Our Pug; God rest his soul, would wet himself and shake at the vets; he knew when he was going, he would slam the brakes on even if you were just walking past.
No, it was nothing serious, just a check up and nail clip. Thanks for asking.

Naya isn't scared of the vets, she just sees it as yet another social outing where she can mingle and get attention laugh

Alright, butt.

I knew about the Aston but didn't know you had a dog. What else does a man need?

This is Pancho.... he is a young wire haired Dachshund that was picked up on the street and put in a 'kill' pound in Spain... with only 4 days left I could not leave him there. The shelter where I adopted my other dog got him out for me and took him home with one of the volunteers, and now he's coming to foster with me - where he will stay until I have found his forever home...

In the pound

Safe with my friend
Well done for fostering him, I should imagine he'll get a good home very speedily, he's cute!
Thanks, yes I am sure he will - he is VERY affectionate and they have nick-named him 'baby' because he always wants a cuddle and sleeps upside down in human arms like a baby - although I know I will be picky when it comes to letting him go. He can stay with us as long as it takes.
How horrid. I read a small bit about kill shelters and it gave me sleepless nights. What a lucky little chap he is. I just love Dachshunds.

I have no idea what a kill shelter is so please don't anyone post a description. It sounds like something I don't want to read about and not something that can be unread.

Well done Para, he looks a lovely chap.

He's loving your video!

Loves all those shots off the lead - the only way to be for Dal's!

He's bred for health. This is his Mum: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1363354/Fi...

Ha - I'm away otherwise I'd show him the picture of the picture... smile

I'll forgive your the DM link as it was unusually informative smile Our chaps urinary habits aren't great. He is very fussy where about where he goes and will wait a long time if it does not suit his purposes. He does drink plenty, having discovered a nearly bottomless source of water. If only I could persuade kids to put toilet lids down. We avoid the kisses now.

Domino is not KC registered, but an alternative organisation. I think he's got something else in his gene pool, as his nose looks a bit more spaniel like and less pointy.....

I won't post anything horrid Antony, but many shelters = especially the municipal ones are so overwhelmed with street dogs and cats they can only offer temporary shelter and if dogs are not adopted or claimed within a short time frame they are PTS. Very sad indeed and epidemic scale.

We have also saved this chap a couple of weeks ago who was in a similar situation - he may be fostered by my friend who has sponsored his rescue and is due to travel at the end of the month, but it is now looking like he will also foster with me too. Possibly 5 dogs here by Christmas!
