I'm sat here watching a very scrawny little black cat with sores around the base of its tail and fur missing polishing off its second bowl of milk in my porch. It was hanging around earlier and i made the mistake of fussing it. Not seen it round here before and this is a small neighbourhood. No one knows who it belongs to.

Not sure what to do, i dont have time or space in my life for a cat and not sure where it came from or whats wrong with it. It's a friendly little thing though.

Oh and it's just run off upstairs. Balls.

Ive just had to forcibly evict it after its second bowl, it had wandered upstairs and was shouting at me to open the bedroom door, little bugger.

Ive put it out the front for the night now, it's not cold out and i know it's had something to eat at least. Does look very, very thin and was trying to lick the paint off the bowl.

Hope it finds its way home, i have absolutely the wrong life to be having a cat.

Bowl of food, bowl of water, catflap, done.

It will help you read the paper, go to the toilet, DIY tasks and keep your car's space on the drive warm.

Nobody (within reason) has the 'wrong life' for a cat!

Feed it wet food in the morning, then leave water and dry food out all day.

I always thought we didn't have the right lifestyle for cats - but we have had 2 for over 10 years now - and it was the best thing we ever did.

Had cats all my life until i got my own place, just not able to have one now.

If it's still there in the morning i'll do a bit of asking round, i'm not getting the hoof for a load of vet bills to have someone turn up after and claim it.

& what Jim Petrol said

That's the nice thing about cats, you can go off to work & leave them, leave enough food out & a fresh supply of water & you can leave them for a weekend away - although I always get someone to go in at least once if I'm away for the weekend.

CPL/PDSA may help with the Vets fees. Some Vets will treat strays for a contribution

Well, it's sat outside my front door yowling at me.

I'm more concerned about the sores round the base of it's tail atm. Teres a bit of fur missing and red marks there. Would frontline be enough to cure it?

Awwww you have a cat smile

Ring your local Vet, they will have an emergency number

Talk to the Vet that answers, explain its a stray & you have concerns - they will either advise you to bring it today or tomorrow - if there is a better option (eg a local PDSA) they should suggest that too (although they are less work friendly) most are open early & late (mine work 8-7, just in case - then people complain about Vet fees!). They will scan it for you too.

Put some pics up of him, the area & the sores?

Go to Pets at Home/Sainsburys/Tesco/Asda buy food, toys, litter tray & litter wink

I'm not ready for this kind of responsibility, i kill plants ffs.

I'll go get it some food, it looks half starved and try to figure out how the hell i can get it to a vet. Do cats like going in m3s?

Cats are hardier - you can leave a tap running & dry food in a big bowl wink but trust me - they let you know when it is breakfast & dinner time - you've seen Simon's Cat? It's real biggrin

A travel crate is the other thing you'll need to get wink

Unless someone has one you can borrow?

Tip it up on its end & lower the cat down into it - far easier to put them in from above

yes mine loved the engine sound, well once they were in & it was moving wink

Well done Dad.

Where in the country are you, a Ph'er might be able to loan you a cat carrier for his check-up.

As above, cats are remarkably easy to look after - just food really.

Lol @ the simons cat thing, i use those toteach animation and theyre very bloody accurate. Can't believe he's not only back this morning, but giving it lungs outside the door and is making a huge sound for such a small scrappy thing.

If it's a girl, i'd call it matilda, although i'm not naming it as this is an admission of defeat.

Well it is back because it is hungry and you are giving it food. And shelter now. And a comfy bed tonight....

Also, if you can, think about raw feeding it and some lacto free milk to drink too.

You do not choose cats, you are chosen by cats.

Too late - it's named smile

Could be Matlida for a boy too (Matti for short) Mum's cat is Dawn 'cause my brother screwed up, he was his cat, but decided her preferred Mum when Neil came he for a few months mid house swap

Sounds like you need to ring your parents & get the carrier

Cats are brilliant. Easy as fk, don't have to take them for walks, and when they jump on you they don't squash you.

Feed em, and leave em. Job done.

Love my 2.

J&J - he's already said that he doesn't have the lifestyle for a cat, he's not going to have one for raw feeding - I don't & I'm home with mine every day
