How deal with a lame dog that just won't stop running.

Ok.
He has removed some bone. Says the elbow joint is very good ( not sure if he meant before or after bone removal) he expects a good outcome.
Absolutely no jumping or anything for two weeks. There is only one way I can think of doing that and that's keeping him I the crate if you saw the clips in the pics thread that's how he is all the time just wants to run, jump and play.
He says he should be able to chase balls again but may limp if we over do It or when cold.
I'm not even going to show him a ball this year. He's just not gentle enough.
I'm just hoping that by summer he's able to go on the long walks he loves
Big list of restrictions. Basically nothing for two weeks. Then 5 minutes walks. No jumping, no running. No hard floors ( we have laminate floors)
Increasing walks for 3 months then at three months no restrictions. It's going to be a tough time. Looking forward to the summer and hopefully taking him places again.

Carpet, maybe perhaps a few rugs. We are keeping him from walking around which is no easy task.
It's interesting that he has hardly any bruising, his bark is normal and he isn't limping any worse than normal.
Yet at the other place his whole leg was completely red, he couldn't walk well for weeks and he'd lost his voice.

Sounds like you've finally found a decent vet, bet Logan is as glad about it as you are.
Yes this guy knows his stuff by the looks of it. Very confidence inspiring. Treats it as an everyday thing. Looks like he does several similar operations a day. Wasn't pleasant sat in the waiting room with lots of badly injured dogs. Not a job I could do. I have to admit I'm a jibbering wreck where Logan is concerned this whole thing has knocked me for 6. I'd like to think I'm normally fairy intelligent and logical but not recently, which is silly I know but..anyway.
Right Logan is going stir crazy. He is very fed up actually crying for exercise. I've tried doing a bit if brain work but e can't help himself.
Floor issue sorted. I've ordered some rubber socks. Expends if the stubborn git will let me put them on him.
